Hi there folks. I'm an xbox modder in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Area. I do complete internal and external modification... what does that mean? well, for the internal part, there's the modchip. What does a modchip do? Basically it allows you to run unsigned code, this boils down to homebrew applications, DVD burns, and such. It will also allow you to play Import video and game DVDs by removing the region coding. What kinda apps are available? The most widely used app is called xbox media player. This is a media player for the xbox that will play almost every video/music/picture encode you can think of. It handles avi, mpg, xvid, mp3, mov, wav, jpg, gif, just to name a few. It displays the movie/music directly to your TV... no more watching AVIs on ur computer screen or having to use a TV out card, just transfer them to the xbox HDD and play them from the xbox (you can also stream movies and music to the xbox from your computer using a program called ReLaX) Emulators are available too... for almost anything. There is a strong emulation scene on the xbox and emulators have been created for everything from atari 2600 and sega SC3000 to Playstation 1 and N64. The only main systems that haven't been emulated so far are dreamcast and playstation 2. As for external modifications, I do lots of paint jobs and LED mods. My price list is as follows: Modchip install: $30 -- You supply the chip (Or I can order it for you for extra $$) This includes a HDD upgrade with any HDD you supply. The HDD will be installed with many popular applications and emulators. A list of current apps on the list is available by request and I can add anything you don't see on the list that you would want. I'm a firm believer that even with 7200 RPM drives the operating temperatures of the xbox are safe. If you would like me to install a fan for cooling purposes I can do that too. 80mm Fan upgrade: $3 you supply the fan, or I can order it for you fans will be ordered from www.xoxide.com here is a list of the fans that they have available: www.xoxide.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Case mods - One color paint job: $20 Two Color paint job: $30 Painted Controller: $15 you supply controller Pictures of my paint work will be located at the end of this post LED mods are available in the following colors: Blue, Orange, Amber, Green, Ultraviolet, Red, and White. HDD activity LED: $5 Controller LED: $3 (Pictured below in green) Controller port LEDs: $12 (these LEDs will light up when a controller is plugged into a port. this does not use the Yellow wire and therefore allows light gun usage) Clear Xbox Case Jewel: $5 Xbox Jewel LED halo: $7 Xbox Jewel Cathode: $2 + cost of cathode (VERY VERY BRIGHT) cathodes can be ordered from http://www.xoxide.com/lightedgrills.html Front Eject Halo LED swap (One color): $5 Front Eject Halo LED swap (two colors): $7 If you want any other kind of LED or case mod then let me know, I can probably do it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chip installs can be done either in the comfort of your own home or mine. I am willing to travel to most destinations in the Dallas area and inbetween Denton and Dallas. Gas charges do apply if I am traveling to your house, but it usually isn't any more than 10-15 dollars. All I charge for gas is the going rate for a gallon multiplied by how many gallons my truck used to get there and back (my truck gets about 15 mpg). I will also accept mail in xboxs, I have done 2 or 3 xboxs in this manner and all have worked out well. If your xbox is broken from a bad install, let me know. There's a possibility I can fix it, and if I can't, I can give you some money for a new one, or credit towards a pre-mod. Contact me and we'll work something out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() more pictures will come of the other xboxs I've painted. BTW, if you want references send me an email at byrdclaw@hotmail.com and I'll send you emails of references you can talk with. Taco also knows me from old school diablo 2 days. |

There are chips for PS2s but they are MUCH harder to install. I've tried 2 times and failed, though I didn't screw the system up, just never got the chip working. The other thing is that Playstation doesn't have as strong of a scene as xbox. There's a media player, and some development tools, but everything has to be run from memory cards or the like (or so I hear). With the xbox, everything can be run directly from the HDD and the HDD can be upgraded... currently it will support the largest drive on the market.. I think it's the 300GB from Maxtor. be sure to let ur friends know, I could use the business... it's getting kinda slow. I accept mail in xboxs and I've done about 40 or so now without a prob. Xboxs can be mailed for about 10-15 dollars each way depending on what shipping method you use. It really is worth it.. I can't explain how useful my xbox is now.. when I first got it, it was just a gaming thing, but now I watch every single movie/anime/TV show I have on it.. I LOVE being able to watch it on my TV instead of my puny 15 inch LCD monitor. I play so many emulated games.. it's nice to have a way to play old school NES games with an actual controller instead of a keyboard. btw, if you don't have an xbox you could always pick one up for $150 at your local gamestop.com store. They sell refurbs for that much.. or you can try ur luck at a pawn shop and get em for around 100-120. If I get some referrals from this board I might start a referral program.. I've been thinkin about it for a while now.. we'll see. |

Interasting, but I think I told you the wrong forums *err*. I suggest checking out www.pixelmethods.com/burnforums and post this there too. I know byrd a bit... we worked a bit in D2 (He duped some shit on an account we shared, then changed the pw) If I had an xbox, I would trust this guy... we used to be good friends. |

| hehe.. I thought we got that all squared away, damn.. I forget so many things I did with D2. Sorry bout that shit, D2 is behind me now anyways. Find me some people to do xbox mods for and I'll send money your way. 5 bucks for every refferal that gets an install... even more if they decide to get a paint job or LED mods. |

Interasting... heh. My friend paid some guy to mod his PS2 and he short circuited it... what a pain in the ass, eh? Mod chips are all pretty damn risky -- but they are indeed worth it |

| the x-box that you painted looked great, I would rather have a white x-box than a black one, that might be because there is not white x-box's around, but I wsaw a banner that was very cool it was an x-box covered in steel plaiting, it was very shinny |
