from battle.net
| QUOTE | StarCraft and Warcraft III Accounts Closed Tuesday, November 11, 2003 A number of additional accounts and CD keys have been tied to the use of a hack or cheat program while playing StarCraft or Warcraft III on Battle.net. In keeping with our aggressive stance against cheating, we have permanently closed 200,000 StarCraft accounts and 7,000 Warcraft III accounts. We have documented all of the CD keys that were used with these accounts. 4,000 of the Warcraft III CD keys used with the now-closed accounts have been banned from ladder play for one month and 300 more have been banned from ladder play permanently. Repeat offenders risk having their CD keys disabled, which will result in the permanent removal of their copies of StarCraft or Warcraft III from Battle.net.
We will continue to monitor Battle.net for cheating and take action as needed. A false report filed by one player against another will not result in the actions described above.
As always, thank you for your continued support; with your help we have been able to keep Battle.net a fun and safe place to play Blizzard games.

bnet is a bunch of whining brats, they should stfu about maphacks, and hacks in general, if the people using the hacks want to ruin the fun of the game for themselves then let them

Its not that they dont want to ruin it for yourselves, you ruining it for LEGIT players.
If you use map hack, then you have an unfair advantage over the other player because you can see when they are planning the attack.
On D2, seeing the creeps is also unfair, because you find where all of them are, faster, and easier than the other people, meaning you can level easier, and get higher in ladder faster or w/e.
Hacks in general ruin the game, because again, they give unfair advantages to the hack user, and the people who just play the game, get beaten, when, if the other person didnt hack and made the game even, it may have not went that way.

i have always maphacked in d2 and i used to maphack in war3 (NOTE USED TO, MY RECENT BANNINGS, I WAS NOT HACKING) the point is, maphack has never given me an advantage, ive never been in a situation where maphack made any difference, heck 80% of the time im not even paying attention to the maphack anyway

Maphack does not give me an advantage, at all. I started winning alot more when I didnt maphack, then when I did.
Interasting, eh?
