Do you buy CDs or download songs? Right now I don't own a single CD and I've downloaded thousands of songs, but that's only because I don't have money, and I don't know where I can buy metal CDs around here... I've looked and the only metal being sold is the less hardcore metal (Slipknot, In Flames, Mudvayne, etc).

It all depends on the quality to me. If the whole CD is awesome (lincoln park - meteora) I'll buy it. But if there is only a few good songs on it (blink-182 - blink-182) I'll D/L the songs I want.

Id download CDs over purchasing them -- why spend the money when you can make your own mixes?
Games on the other hand are better to purchase (cd-keys/collective value)

Some games you get the cd-key with the download so I like downloading games most of the time

Downloading software is the best becuase it almost always comes with a key and you don't have to pay 500+ bucks .

Me too, why would you pay a buck less for a burned cd, when you can get the real one with the official cd, art, etc.
The only advantage is that you get to select multiple band songs

multiple band songs... pshhhhhh... that's the best part about buying a CD, finding that one AWESOME song that no one else but you knows about

I loathe buying CDs... Although, you can occasionally find my buying one that I know I will like every single song.
I would dload for myself, but those stupid lawsuits have gotten my parents all scared so no shareware... We've also had virus problems in the past, and that has over-effected them.
So my strat, I've got a bud who knows how to work his shareware to the safest extent. I tell him the name of the CD, he goes on Amazon.com gets the tracklisting, dloads the songs, then transfers them to me on AOL. And to make my parents happy, I burn the songs onto a CD, and then remove them from the comp. No more songs on comp, and I just got that CD for about .05 cents.

I don't see any reason why I should spend $15 on an CD on which I only like one or two songs. I believe that CDs are overpriced to a point where it's sad. A full length (18 song) CD costs 73 cents to produce. Though there are other factors to consider, there is no reason why I should pay $15 to listen to one song.
That being said, Mudvayne and Slipknot suck. This is an example of me forcing my opinion on you. If you disagree, you will be vaporized by my stapler/alien/monkey secret weapon.

I usually buy all my cds, but I download the songs first to see if i like them. Downloaded songs can have such shitty sound, and you can have random noises in the background.

The only thing about that is that artists get like $1 off of every cd sold.

True .. that's still some money though .
Downloading songs off of the Ipod crap is a joke... $.99 per song. That costs way to much, go out and buy it.

I might have bought maybe one c-d in my whole life...The reason, why pay, when you can get it free? Two, you may like one song, but think the rest are shitty. I'm a semi-beatles fan, and one reson i owuld disagree to buying and c-d from them, is that Micheal Jackson owns the rights to their albums Haha
