Creeping Creeping (Origional Post)

Creeping is one of the most important factors in Warcraft. Efficient creeping can win games. The problem is, most people can't creep very well. Sometimes I see people losing entire armies because they run into big creep groups.

General Creeping:

The most important thing about creeping is that you have to know if you can creep an area without losing a unit.
There are three creep groups: Green, orange, and red.

Green groups are very easy. Usually a hero can take them out without units, but heavy damage might be taken.
Orange groups can usually be crept with units equal to about ten to twelve supply and a hero.
Red groups usually aren't worth creeping, especially if there is only one on the map. It is very easy to get caught by your opponent and that might lose you the game. Usually by the time you have enough units to be able to creep a red group, it will not be as useful as attacking your enemy.

One easy way of keeping your units alive is tanking with summons. Water elementals, beetles, skeletons from the Rod of Necromancy, bears, wolves. If these die, you can recast them, or take a clarity potion, which is seventy gold.
Cycling units is very effective in creeping. If one of your units goes into the red, move it back, so it does not take any more damage until you can heal it later.

After creeping, and having a lot of damaged units, healing is important.

Different races have different ways of creeping.

As human, spreading damage throughout your army is good because humans have a scroll of regeneration. It heals an area instead of just one unit. The paladin can keep your units alive as well.

As orc, tank with your hero, if you aren't using the Farseer and have wolves. Heroes reduce damage from most creep attacks, so it can take the same number of hits, but take less damage. Afterwards, salves can heal it back to the green. If you are worried about being creepjacked, you can do the same thing with a grunt. The Shadowhunter can keep your units healed, but I don't usually use it creeping.

As undead, the Death Knight and cannibalize are your only sources of healing before tier 2. Cannibalize is great, but it takes up corpses that can be used to revive skeletons. Death coil is a great skill, especially if you have a second hero. That hero would tank and receive huge amounts of healing from the Death Knight.

Night elves have moon wells, but these wells run out very quickly. If you do not have enough mana to heal all your units fully, get them all up to yellow. Do not leave a couple in the red and the rest green. The moonstone can help you regenerate mana.
