I've been observing this feud between Gaming Void and Gamingforce members and, no offense to anyone who's actually getting into it, it's the stupidest thing I've seen in a while. First of all, spamming. It's dumb. That's why it has a negative connotation and that's why we have e-mail filters to protect against it. No one likes it. How did you guys think that spamming other forums in an attempt to bolster your own membership was a good idea? Not only do you piss off the administration and userbase, but any members you do recruit were probably the dregs of that forum, people that no one really appreciated having around. A good forum doesn't need to rely on spam to draw in members -- that only causes resentment and makes your name look bad. Use word of mouth, use awesome site features, use an intelligent and witty usergroup, use anything but that idiotic spam message. Not that GFF isn't free of all the blame, either. You shouldn't have gone and spammed the GFF forums, but there was no need for GFF members to come here and make a ruckus. As for this proposed spam war you intend on waging on GFF in the coming days, I would strongly advise against it. Gaming Void already has a bad stigma. Do you really want to make yourselves look worse? Seriously, people. |

Idiots should not try to act intelligent. Do you think microsoft would be where it is today had they not 'spammed' their product? Do you think TV commercials, magazine ads, radio commercials, banners and pop-ups, are not considered spam? I agree, the product, any product, including a forum, should be passed on by word of mouth or the quality of said product. However, not just dregs are obtained from the infamous 'spamming.' They do come, hence the clichè 'the good and the bad'. GamingVoid is fortunate to have our very own professional advertiser, in your eyes, spammer, and because of his efforts we have gotten many golden members who produce nothing but quality posts and threads. Unfortunatley, the bad, you, also come along. I refuse to allow your disillusioned mind to continue thinking that this world's leading companies, both internet and non, could function without spamming, because it couldn't. |

| Are you suggesting that this Gamingforce.com was paid, by your site, to house threads created for advertising this site? |
| Posted By Fake on 6/16/04 @ 7:33:12 PM | ||
Excellent reply. I think that takes care of that. Although, one thing. I will give this guy credit because he did not come over here like those other retards and start trying to flame us while making himself look like an ass. I will defiantly say that you are obviously more intelligent then those other cockroaches. Another reason why we spam - it's fun. I honestly don't give a shit how many forums I'm banned off of, so why not have some fun at the ones I don't care about. We are generally between the ages 13-20 here, so of course were gonna try and have some fun. It's the Internet, so why the fuck should anyone care? I think people need to chill the fuck out about this whole spamming thing. I see nothing wrong with it, and I will gladly do it again to any forum out there. |

hrm is that me??? My advertising is the sole thing that got GamingVoid started. Every forum that does not have big pockets uses some sort of advertising to get members. GFF just became a casualty of my spam..and when they came back and bitched about it this is what happened......

no lol I advertise wherever I feel like it, whenever I feel like it I could care less if they like it or not..It is my civic duty to spam the hell outta every forum on the internet in order to get more members |

| So you are, in fact, rendering logic's post voided, because his premise is that all successful companies advertise their product. But these successful companies pay to advertise on tv, radio, print, etc. Do you see my point? |

I understand what your sayingg but thats not what he means with his post, he is saying that companies never get anywhere without advertising. And again no one pays me to advertise, I do it because this site is worth being banned from numerous other sites, just to get more people able to join this great community |
| Posted By logic on 6/16/04 @ 9:13:33 PM |

Not all companies HAVE to pay to advertise. Advertisements, in itself, does not have to be paid for. The same way that my signature on any and every forum I go to functions as a 'clickable image' that re-directs to gamingvoid, is an advertisement. It's not paid for, no one is giving me any money, yet it is still an advertisement. WuM voluntarily goes to other forums and advertises the GV name, and noone pays him, although I know he wishes it. It is not paid for, yet is still an advertisement. And if you want to claim that big companies that are successful, such as referenced in my post, pay for all their advertising, then you are wrong again. Products they use are required by other products and companies to function, so when they are used, they see the microsoft emblem or software or other product, and in effect, see the advertisement. Hence the reason for Logo's. Just how if you type in Soldiers of Fortune II on google, were #2 on the list. We didn't pay google to put it there, but it's there nonetheless. |

But by spamming another person's forum, you are using up space on their server and bandwidth, paralleling my tv, radio, print point. Having a link in your sig is all well and good, most boards allow that. Spamming up a place, being as it is against the rules, should not be defended, especially when it is not allowed here. Logos should be seen as congruent to a link in your sig at another forum. Creating threads for advertisement purposes is equivalent to tv, radio, or print advertisements. Do you see my point? |

Point is well made, and understood, it was made and understood thus the first time, you haven't said anything new, and I apologize if I gave you the misconception that I did not understand it. Now, for my retort. It is against the rules, here at gamingvoid, to advertise another forum. If it is done, the link is removed, and a post is made saying, please read the rules, and do not advertise another forum. If the same person continues to do it, he is either suspended or banned, depending on the severity of it. WuM, you'll notice, is not a staff member. He is VIP, which is very important person, a group for those who make exceptional quality posts, or retired staff, but the key here, is that he is not staff. Now, hopefully you got that point, because if you didn't, this will be meaningless to you. WuM is not staff, and as such, is like all other members, he is uncontrollable. If he wants to make a thread on GFF boards, saying, "I hate all gamingvoid faggots, there all stupid and idiotic and dont know a damn thing, GFF rocks." Then I'm afraid, gamingvoid, can do nothing at all to him. On the same token, if he wants to make a thread, or a thousand threads, on GFF boards, saying GamingVoid is the best forums, they got it all, from games to anime to movies to roleplaying to flaming to debate, come check us out!" Then again, gamingvoid, can do nothing about it. The point, WuM can do what he wants, and although he may be spamming for gamingvoid, the staff does not advocate for him to do so. I did not send him a private message saying, hey, go spam every fucking forum you can find and get them to come to gamingvoid. No. He did it on his own. Now, after this little 'forum war' started happening, then yes, the staff gets a little upset, and chooses sides, our side. Now is the time, and the only time, when you might see a staff member tell a member to go spam anothers boards, do not get the misconception that this is an ongoing ordeal, it is not. I'v been here awhile, this is the first time it's happened. Now, do you get my point? |

Was that really necessary? It would be a simple task for me to stoop down a level and join in on the mudslinging, but you'll notice that I refrained. Why? Oh, I dunno, it makes me sound better and ensures that the point I'm trying to make isn't lost in the midst of irrelevant insults. Anyway, I have some follow-ups to say.
There is a difference between advertising and spamming. You see, advertising is a focused sales pitch directed towards a specific, target audience that will most likely be receptive towards the ad. While it would benefit Microsoft to advertise their product in a software/computer magazine, there would be no positive effect of them advertising in a car magazine. Companies pay for advertisements in publications or locations where it is most likely that people will remember and have some use for their product, or at the very least tolerate the solicitation. Spamming, on the other hand, shows complete disregard for all that. Spamming is just getting a name as widespread as possible. Unlike targeted advertising, spamming has little to no benefits whatsoever. What your forum friend WhatUrMuva was doing was spamming, pure and simple. It was distasteful, rude, uncalled for, and showed complete disregard to the forum rules at Gamingforce. It's like a newspaper publication. If you want to advertise a product, you stick it where it's supposed to go. You don't rampage all over the front page of every section. And considering that you say:
It's in incredibly poor taste and hypocritical to tolerate this sort of behavior from your "professional advertiser." So you don't allow advertising on Gaming Void. That's cool. Then why are you letting one of your posters (ex-staff, whatever) rampantly spam on other forums? Don't you think they have rules too? And then you side with the instigator of this incident. You don't endorse what he's doing, but yet you tolerate it and support him when push comes to shove. What's up with that? You sound like a pretty intelligent guy yourself. So why support this stupidity? |
| Posted By logic on 6/17/04 @ 1:46:14 AM | ||

I never stated that I support the spamming in the first place, in fact, if you'll read up, it turns out that my fellow members of GV, do, in fact, advocate 'spamming the hell' out of everything. Big slap in my face. I stated that in the instance of this forum war, I would side with GV, this just because I am a staff member here, and pride myself on my loyalty to GV.
As I said, he's a member and I don't control him, and evidentally, taco (admin) does in fact instruct him to spam. When i first joined and read that message, I thought it meant to say gamingvoid.com/forums/ for diablo 2 maphack and bots in the chat channels. Evolution has changed this, evidentally. I would like to apologize to you for the insult, I retract all previous statements made with a degrading tone, bear in mind we have been flooded with, disrespectful posters, to say the least, that have lowered my overall opinion of any representative of GFF. You have shown me respect and I will henceforth show you the same. |

But if that wutyamuva guy keeps going over there spamming, all it will accomplish is more people coming over here to stir up trouble. Really, he is the one throwing the first stone and drawing the ire of the people there. If it were not for his rather assinine tactics, there would be no so called forum war. He goes over there and starts trouble, bringing people over here to cause trouble. But instead of letting it die down, he is planning on going over there again this weekend? All that will cause is for the staff here to have headaches to deal with in an influx of GFF people here for the sole purpose of causing a ruckus. While it has been said that because he is a simple member, he cannot be controlled, I must disagree with that. Staff can say to him that if he does indeed go over there and spam advertisement for gamingvoid, he will face consequences here. One could draw a direct correlation between a massive influx of "warring" posters and a spam attack from him at their forum. Cause and effect. WutUrMuva will cause a great deal of work and headache for the staff here if he does choose to spam their forum, this I could almost guarentee based on what has already taken place. Considering that the behavior of the GFF members posting here often conflicts with the rules, and WhatUrMuva directly causing this, would his behavior not warrant punishment, regardless of which forum he pushes the submit button on a reply? |
| Posted By logic on 6/17/04 @ 4:01:41 AM |

Evidentally not, because TacoX, our admin, advocates him to spam. Further, WuM really is a good member, granted, he likes to piss me off for the fucking fun of it, but he is a good member, and until he actually does break a rule that we strictly enforce, he's safe. But I do agree with you, nothing 'positive' is going to come with this forum war, and it should be dropped, but then again, i'm the sob who has to stay up for hours cleaning the forums. |

I would like to think that the basic laws of decency and 'being a nice person' transcend forum rules. An employee might get good results, but if he annoys his superiors and incurs the wrath of other companies, he ought to be canned. But, that's just me. =p
Hey, whaddya know. I'm going to be in that same boat as well if Gaming Void people decide to spam up GFF. We originate from two separate forums, but a pair of Super Moderators ought to be able to quell this idiocy before it starts, right? |

Again, because I couldnt edit.
Your making yourself look stupid. I read this thread and this last post, nothing under..because you made a mistake. A big one. Look, Microsoft Advertising in a computer magazine makes sense, for all the computer people WuM advertised on a GAMING FORUM...for what again? A GAMING FORUM. Your a fucking idiot. Like it matters anyway, if you dont like it. Dont read it. Im sick of you pussy ass people complaining when someone spams, or flames out of the right section.. "Oh really? You dont like it when I do that....hmph....How about you get a fucking life and DONT READ IT THEN ASSHOLE." And we arent LETTING him...how the fuck can we tell him to stop? Its his choice. If he was spamming www.aol.com...are you going to go complain to AOL? No, you deal with the person who is doing it fool. It is tolerated because IT DOES get traffic, and because foolish GFF (Like yourself) come over here and annoy the fuck out of us. So we have no choice but to hate you, and if you annoy us(Not only with stupid discussions such as this, but also the spam and dirty pictures put on here.) then we have no choice but to support him. Now go away. Shut up. |

Tokin, who the heck are you, and why did you kick the intelligence level of this thread down a notch?
It happens. By the way, it's spelled "you're" with an apostrophe, thanks.
Hey, buddy. You're the one making a mistake here. Gamingforce is not a public forum. It is not public domain. Sure, it is open to the public to register and post, but is privately owned, financed, and run by somebody. There's none of this "freedom of speech" stuff. If someone's posting crap that no one else tolerates, we don't have to go "well, it's okay. Just don't read it and everything will be dandy as peach gummy rings!" No way. You're not ruining a public bulletin board. You're ruining something that many GFF members have put time, money, and lots of thought into creating and maintaining. An eyesore, even if it's glanced over by the general populace, is still an eyesore and an irritation. Besides, if you want to think about it logically, why are you advertising another gaming forum an an already well-established gaming forum? Trying to steal enemy territory or something? You think Microsoft would dare run an ad campaign in an Apple-oriented magazine? You advertise for people that you think might want your product, not people who are already satisified with what they have.
You can punish him here. Think of Gamingforce and Gaming Void as two sovereign nations. Your citizen came to our country and graffiti'd the hell out of it. Then he runs back here and claims immunity. The citizens and government of Gamingforce would like to ask you to discipline your wayward friend.
Hey, if you ask me, something like this is a lot more intelligent in nature than your various other "I HATE THIS DUDE WUT A FAG (lol)" threads. By the way: "Oh really? You dont like it when I do that....hmph....How about you get a fucking life and DONT READ IT THEN ASSHOLE." Gee. Taking a page out of your own book, even though some GFF members did some annoying stuff over here, if you don't like and don't read it, then everything's GREAT, right?

That MAY have been possible, but before anyone could do anything GFF members who thought they were "cool" and "1337" came over here spamming, pictures included. If you guys would have acted mature, maybe we would have. He spammed in what...6 threads? You guys spammed A LOT more than that. I also KNOW for a fact that you people didnt warn you're members to stop or "discipline" them as you said we should do.
I dont have any theads like that. I have a flame thread, but since you do not know much, it was productive and entertaining, and wasn't taken seriously.
That would be fine, if they didnt spam pictures. I didnt complain on GFF when they spammed here, we deleted it and that was that. YOU PEOPLE did come over here AFTER your members had spammed here. Thats bull shit, and you know it. You're members faught back, and THEN you come and try to calm things down?.... It is the members who came over heres fault, they spammed back. They should have been mature and not started it.
Since you want to correct me. "No, you. Okay thanks." |

*pats himself on the back* It is because I stayed up for 8 hours, trashing, deleting, and banning the members of GFF (and yes, considering their names were variouns of GFF or gamingforce), that is the reason you did not see them. They contained pornographic content, such as above, or posts by individuals who spoke in bold font, large size, and saying nothing but racial slurs and religious slurs. |

I'm not generally fond of using acronyms, but LOL. Anyhow.
Well, general consensus says that I was correct with my grammar, and you were not. I do have to give you props for using the correct word in the above quote, however. You're doing well!
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Two wrongs don't make a right here. True, some GFF members didn't act very maturely when they came to spam up your forums. Our bad on that one. So you know, WhatUrMuva's original spamming spree may have been 6 threads on 6 different forums -- I'm not sure. That alone may have been glossed over, but then he went and registered multiple dupe accounts for the sole purpose of spamming up GFF even more. How would you KNOW (for a fact) that the moderation team at GFF hasn't discplined members against spamming here? You are not aware of what Gamingforce staff does or does not do. At the very least, GFF administration doesn't openly endorse the spammers as you do here (or at least in the case of tacoX, apparently).
Whoops. When I said "your" here, I was speaking in a general sense in reference to the posters of Gaming Void as a whole, not you in particular. But there you go calling me stupid again. =\
You know, there was nothing saying you couldn't have gone to GFF and made a complaint. It may even have helped matters. Instead, the members of Gaming Void just decided to conspire some sort of spam attack. I speak for myself when I say I created this thread for the greater good. It seems you want to be cynical about it, though.
Yeah, I'll hand it to you that they shouldn't have spammed back. That doesn't cover up the fact that WhatUrMuva should not have spammed our forums at all. Gaming Void was actually spammed on GFF quite a while ago -- the thread was dealt with as per our standard policy. There was no need for multiple repeats.
Sarcasm reading off the scales !!! |

Yes, it was done a long time ago, by a DIFFERENT member. Platnum did it first, I dont think he told anyone. WuM didnt know that it was a site already spammed. I did not go to GFF because from the maturity level shown here, they seemed like (on their own turf especially) the type who would gang up and flame you and get you banned etc... Even so, Im not staff here. Just a "vet" as you probably call it..I told the first member who came over here (Just a "vet") to go away because he was not staff..[I would have rather us been talking to someone with some power] and I am sure you see why I would. A member is just a member, and he doesnt represent the forum. So I would not go over there and try to represent gamingvoid. Although, maybe staff should have but the admins were no where to be found. Gaming Void may have conspired a spam attack, but only after GFF "conspired' a spam attack, because it was not ONE member that showed up here, but at least 5 or 6. WuM did his alone, because he spams for fun, not for revenge. Even though it shouldnt have been done, but you see WHY it was done. The members here arent going to sit back and watch this place get spammed..even if thats what they SHOULD have done. What your members did was irrational, and what ours did was irrational, and I am not even completely sure that we did do that "spam attack". The only attack I remember was ALL WuM on different usernames, and he only did that because your members came over here. |

Actually, last month, your lovely board owner demo spammed up Gamingforce as well, with numerous threads advertising "pocketvoid" or something like that. When this kind of behavior is endorsed and even perpetuated by the administration, it gives you guys shaky ground at best to stand on. And you know what, I'm not even sure GFF as a whole has anything to apologize for. The consequence of having someone spam your website multiple times is that eventually, someone's going to go and check it out. While there's a possibility that the new poster is someone you'll appreciate, there's also a possibility that the new poster will be someone you dislike. That risk was taken when WUM endeavored to spam up GFF, and it seems like it backfired. |

Do you have any idea just how easy it is for me to ban members? I mean, I actually enjoy it, really. I'm glad he spammed, because I'm happy if I get 1 good, quality poster out of every 50 bad ones. I can ban until my mouse breaks, and I have a ton of back-ups. |

Ok, am I missing something, or did he just say hes not fond of using acromyms, and then say "LOL", immediately contradicting himself? If so, that instantly causes anything else he says to be irrelavent, and inconsequential. So if I didn't miss something, and that is what he did...well, it sucks to be him then I guess..."LOL" LOL - Acronym. Learn it, Like it, Love it. |

In any case, I would hesitate to discount everything someone says based on one incident. That's just brushing it aside too easily on a technicality. "but" tends to display an exception, and it was no different in the case that I used it in. Still, all's understood now so there's no harm. |

Well, I speak only for myself when I say that this is really the only place I've been posting. Maybe it would benefit you to venture to GFF and make a decent, normal thread. People are a lot more receptive when every thread they see about a forum isn't just spam. |

Why? To have a nice, long, thouught out discussion with the intellectuals on that site? Seeing as they STILL spam here, I know that they have not been warned or disciplined. I also can tell that they are not mature enough to have a discussion, although you may be able to, but you are already here. So I'm not going over there, and niehter should anyone else from Gv. I'd rather not have a member here get flamed by a bunch of "noob" kids. |

Hm, so you're basing your opinion of Gamingforce based on the people you see posting here. That makes sense. That is also, unfortunately, how the people of Gamingforce view Gaming Void people. The multiple spam posts we receive there reveal nothing about any quality posters GV may have. They reveal only that you guys are random spammers who don't give a hoot about a forum's established rules. Obviously, Gamingforce posters have a maligned view that's very different from what you'd like potential posters to have. The reverse also applies -- there's some give and take here. No offense, but you guys need to stop clinging to each others' statements as if they were the end-all absolute truth. Generate your own opinions instead of piggybacking on someone else's. Somewhere along the way there could be a slip-up and you'll be caught in the flack. |

Why would I type the same thing Tokin said if thats exactly how I feel? Fine, we don't need to like each other. But stop having your people come here, and we won't go there. Case solved, no one gets upset. |

i believe they are following a policy of "an eye for an eye." u spam their forums, so that is how they retaliate. its kinda logical if u think about it. |

Your right, there are people who may be like you on your site. But seeing as first impressions last, I still dont want to go there. You came here, but only to say spamming is retarded...but at least you didnt flame and spam like they did...so yeah, you make GFF look better, but bad things ALWAYS outweigh the good things. If you did one bad thing, then a good thing..people are still going to remember the bad about you. Anyway, I think we have come to somewhat of a close but bring up any other problems because I enjoyed this, not enjoyed..but it was something to do. Meh. Also, spamming is retarded..back to that...have you ever spammed a site so bad and then got banned only to use a proxy and fuck it up even worse? It may not sound that fun..but its something fun to do. Thats why spam is everywhere and no one will ever stop it. I recently spammed a site for the first time in a while, it was funny. Don't diss things you have'nt tried. |

I didnt see that, so heres the DP. Anyway, no no..they went overboard and took the whole head. He spammed their forums, they came over here on different occasions and spammed alot more, with pictures and more people. He may have took an 'eye' but they took the whole 'head'. |

Yes, the site wars thing was quite dumb. It was a big annoyance for me to clean up there, and I'm sure it was a pain for the mods to clean up here. I would still like to blame WhatUrMuva for inciting this whole thing (not just the initial spamming run, but subsequent ban evasion/spamming runs), but hey, once you're involved both parties are to blame. I do think you'd miss out on not seeing what the real Gamingforce is like, but if you wanted me to talk about all of its virtues I guess you'd have asked me directly. As for spamming other places, no, I don't really do that. This isn't really refined, but I believe in the Golden Rules -- that is, treat others the way you'd have them treat you. Spam is a huge annoyance to me. I'm not going to go spam other people because I know it's a huge annoyance to them. Not to mention I don't really feel like investing the energy in spamming anyway. In my opinion, there are better ways of going about your business. And, erm... your = possessive. "Is that your toy?" you're = contraction of 'you are'. "You're going to the concert tonight, right?" |

Really quickly because I dont have time.... IT DOESNT FUCKING MATTER BECAUSE YOU OBVIOUSLY UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM SAYING IN THE FIRST PLACE. I type better than most on forums, and everyone understands when I am using 'your' no matter what. Its slang, but probably the only slang I use besides the occasional "EL OH EL" kk. |

our = possessive. "Is that your toy?" you're = contraction of 'you are'. "You're going to the concert tonight, right?" Screw off. We don't care how Tokin uses your, only obsesive freaks like you scan posts for grammar mistakes...... |

Wow. You guys get so riled up over a simple matter like that. Listen, the way you type online is the way you present yourself to the online community. If you don't type clearly, you run the risk of 1) being misunderstood and 2) being thought of a less intelligent person. Sorry for trying to help a "brotha" out. Oh, I'm not being obsessive (with two 's' there), or else I'd have plucked out each and every one of the various typos and grammatical errors. I only did it that time because Tokin's attempt to call me on the usage of your/you're set a precedent. |
