What Is Warcraft? What Is Warcraft? (Origional Post)

Hey Everyone,

A friend from Diablo recommended I buy Warcraft 3 and I was just wondering what it is all about. What the objective is, gameplay, and so on. Buying it would also open up a whole new section of the forum that I can currently not post on.

From my friend's description it sounds pretty fun, BUT I'd like your guys takes on it.

It is a Strategy game where you build...uhm...buildings...and train units, and research upgrades for better defense and whatnot. Another thing is that you have a hero (There are 4 choosable heros from each race) and each hero is different in the skills that they can learn(This is where it is somewhat like D2, in that you level a hero by killing creeps and learning new moves and getting items)....you play online with the objective to defeat your opponent by whiping out his base..with team play optional(Up to 4v4).

Just look at WuM strats to see each units strengths. Now to think of it, he should post a description of each hero and their skills so you will know.

It is a very good game, you could always download the demo from

http://www.blizzard.com

and try it out, although you are limited in what you can do. Good luck.

Game Features of Warcraft III:
  • Four Unique Races armed with distinctive units, magical abilities, and weapons of war.
  • Two nations of warriors new to the Warcraft Universe; the plague-ridden Undead and the mysterious Night Elves.
  • Brilliant three-dimensional graphics powered by Blizzard's own 3D engine, which offers support for multiple resolutions and customizable detail settings.
  • Build Legendary Heroes, whose ability to advance in levels and learn new spells and abilities makes them the core of each race's force.
  • Heroes can use Special Items and Equipment dropped by Neutral Units or purchased from Neutral Buildings to turn the tide of battle.
  • Neutral Buildings, accessible by each race's Heroes, offer a variety of wondrous magic items and fearsome mercenary units--all for a price.
  • Neutral Units inhabit the world of Azeroth and impede the unwarry but yield precious treasure when defeated in combat.
  • Full Multiplayer support, including Internet play over Battle.netŪ.
  • New Multiplayer Features including shared unit control and resource trading between players.
  • Improved Battle.net Features including improved ladder support.
  • Advanced World Editor design tools allow players to create their own maps and customize many aspects of the game.

Tokin I will get on that unit/hero guide soon as time is avaliable..until then look in the warcraft races sections to get an idea of what your looking at

Yo Morbid,

From a dude who plays warcraft everyday I must inform you that if you do not have a fast computer your life will be a living hell. Though if you do have a fast computer it will be a great game because the expierience is different everytime you play online if you are gonna play online wink.gif wink.gif

Yea online gaming is completly different than the campaign. The are some awesome custom maps such as Uther Party(Mario Party) , Jeepers Creepers 2, hunderds of hero sieges, Tower Defence Maps, and much more. SO yes if you have a fast enough computer playing online should be a breeze

Hmmm, how fast is fast? I play on Diablo and there is no problem at all, is that fast enough? Perhaps you could give me a better definition of "Fast".

Second, I was checkin' out the Warcraft 3 site on Blizzard.com. It looks like a great game. I understand the races and all that. I'm still not sure of the objective...Do you just build a base, get an army, and try and take out the other guys base?

Also, for playing online, is that just playing against different people over the net?
