(with a hint of guitar advice, and fortune telling) So, peeps, the time has come for you to stop leaving me messages about computer and guitar advice on AIM. If you've got a problem, leave it here, and I'll get back to you the second I get on GamingVoid. I also take computer building requests, and may be starting my own little paypal shit in order to suit you people better. You wire me the money, you tell me what you want, and I'll tailor a PC to suit you. For now, the question portion. Shoot away, bothersome, nameless, message leavers! |

I thought the same, but Black Syth 13: Because people always piss and fucking moan about computer troubles.. Its a valid reason, but this should go in general. Well, for my first question - what is the BEST anti-spyware program out dere? |

Ok heres a computer question, My computer has more than the recommended specs for Warcraft III yet I still have a massive amount of lag when Playing the game on my computer. How can I change that? I'm tired of lag related losses |
| Posted By Black-Syth on 7/16/04 @ 11:28:02 PM | ||||
My personal favorite anti-spyware/adware/malicious script program is called "Spybot S&D." It's free, and you have the option of donating money. The people who developed it are really good programmers, and are generous people. I quote this from the program:
Pretty nice guy, eh? Anyways, you can download it here. Also, if you haven't done so, already, download Mozilla Firefox at www.mozilla.org. It will help you stop pop-ups and block spyware. I've been popup and Spyware free for almost 6 Months on two of my computers. |

If you play online, it might be your internet connection. (not sure if WC is online) To delve deeper, depending on how much memory your videocard has, that could be a problem with settings. Go into your BIOS and change your Graphics Aperture size to double what your videocard has, that's assuming you have the RAM. If you have a company computer like a Dell, it could very well be a temperature problem. I'd recommend downloading a monitoring program like Mother Board Monitor, or a benchmarking program like SiSoft Sandra and monitoring temperatures. It could be that your hard-drive is fragmented, and it has slow seek times, or you have a fucked up CD reader. It could be a slew of things, and you should take my advice, and if things still don't work out, give me the details, and I'll see what I can do. |

| My windows XP ALWAYS resets my profile. When I log onto to my Windows name, it says profile can not be found. It does this everythime I log on, any advice to get it to work? |
| Posted By Black-Syth on 7/16/04 @ 11:42:46 PM | ||
It's probably some corrupted files. If you've got magnets, monitors, or speakers by your computer, get those away. Try popping in your Windows XP disk, and doing the repair option. If that doesn't work, and you're that bothered, make a backup CD with your important files, and give the bitch a format. That'll set ur' straight, I guarantee it. It could also be the fact that you haven't updated Windows in a while. Give that a shot before anything else. |

http://home.earthlink.net/~doniteli/messenger-popups.jpg This is what it looks like. It's either: A. Not a legitimate Windows Messanger popup. or B. You've got bad spyware and the spyware is getting into your computer, and doing something like a command prompt "Net Send." Whichever it is, you can get rid of the popups exactly how I told Taco to get rid of spyware. Download Spybot, and Mozilla. |

| Best Guitar to play if starting a band and know how to play a guitar pretty well... |
| Posted By Black-Syth on 7/17/04 @ 12:06:01 AM | ||
Any sub $500 Ibanez RG, or Fender guitar. Honestly, it's up to what you're comfy with. If you want to learn how to play well, get tablature and various scales from www.mxtabs.net or other sites that you can find with google. Or, get lessons. The higher your budget, the better for you for the most part. I suggest busting into your local Guitar Center, and feeling out which one is for you. If you're not a serious player, don't get an extremely expensive guitar... unless you/your parents shit money. |

| good band names, yeah...I could use some of those. But the way I see it is if I ask you, Black Syth, the name wouldn't be origanal. I would rather think up my own name and that way I could take pride in my creation. Just a little advise, UwantSum. I was wondering Black Syth, if I were to go out and buy a computer, what would be the best compnay to go to? |
| Posted By Black-Syth on 7/17/04 @ 12:39:39 PM | ||||||||
No, you're absolutely right. You can go into add/remove programs and get rid of it. Spybot will get rid of it, and let's face facts. If you've got spyware and adware bad enough that it gets into your Windows Messanger, you could use something to get rid of all of it. Spybot doesn't uninstall any programs like taskbars, so you can do that yourself in add/remove programs though.
Depending on the genre: Chicken Cock W.M.S. (wobble my shit) Fortune Cookie Blast-O-Rama Orfice Raiders Goosenut The Blah Blah Blahs Fuckstink Fuckshit Fuckass Fucklefuck Fuckling
I can't really tell you much. You might be using shitty CDs, or you might want to upgrade your drivers. You could have a shitty drive, if it's a company computer. Sometimes companies just label CD burners 48X, for example, and they're actually only 32X or 24X.
Depending on how much money you have, you could go to various companies. If you want the most bang for your buck, ABS computers would be the way to go. You can custom build one, and it'll still be more expensive than building your own, but at least you've got a warranty. If you wanna spend a shitload of cash, and want the best parts available, Falcon Northwest or Alienware would be the way to go. I prefer Falcon, because most of the people I know that own an Alienware, bitch about customer support. |
| Posted By Black-Syth on 7/17/04 @ 1:02:42 PM |

The next few companies are smack-dab in the middle. Voodoo Pudget Custom Computers FIC Monarch Shuttle (For Mini-PCs) Polywell Totally Awesome Computers Screamworx I've got a slew more, but I'm tired of typing. :-p If these don't "Fill your Void" then come back, and ask for more. |
| Posted By tacoX on 7/18/04 @ 12:25:45 AM |
| Well, I add alot of codes to gamingvoid, and I have to individually add each one. For example, go to url, c/p title, c/p code, submit, back. Any tools that would make it easier. Like auto-highlighting paragraphs/copying in the field? |

Another trojan question. I got a irc.tronjan, I got it in a mIRC chat room when people spammed. It was in the log (.txt files) though..... I deleted the log..... is it gone or do I need to do more? Also, it said they can only control me through IRC chatrooms, so I need to have IRC open, right? |
| Posted By Black-Syth on 7/18/04 @ 11:11:25 PM | ||||||
If Norton cannot delete or quarantine it, you're pretty much fucked. If Norton did something about it, you should be fine. Also, yeah, you don't need to activate anything, just triple click and Firefox will hi-light the whole line of text.
Kiddo, I can build you a computer that you can hack the Pentagon with for $100. What I'm saying is, you can hack the Pentagon with a computer as slow as any Pentium I out there, it just takes your 1337 skills to hack it. The computer does not make the hacker, the hacker makes the computer. Literally, and figuratively speaking... errr... typing.
With a backdoor trojan, there is no need to be in mIRC to get hacked. Usually, people that can't/don't know how to scan for open ports so they send you a backdoor, and script kiddy their way in. They do shit with programs like NetDevil. Shit like, turning your monitors on and off, making your drives spit out CDs, and removing icons from your desktop. Run Norton, and it should be just fine. |

| What do you do when has been quarentined? |
| Posted By Black-Syth on 7/18/04 @ 11:16:41 PM | ||
Nothing. It's quarantined. It means that it can't be deleted, but it's been "locked up." |
| Posted By ZBomber on 7/18/04 @ 11:28:00 PM |
| But, you are able to delete it, aren't you? |
| Posted By chillinhh on 7/19/04 @ 12:04:24 AM | ||||
It was a joke |
| Posted By Black-Syth on 7/19/04 @ 11:31:54 AM | ||||
Think of the virus as a criminal. It's not being deleted (put to death) but it's being quarantined (seperated from the rest of society, going to jail where it can't do any harm). In this case, the virus can't be deleted, but Norton locks it away where it can't do your system harm. You're fine, it's nothing to worry about. |
| Posted By ZBomber on 7/19/04 @ 12:44:33 PM |

Oh, so when i deleted the thing in the quarentine log, I just deleted it from the log? Thanks for clearing that up Syth. |

| I am thinking about getting a brand new computer. Would you recomend Falcon Northwest? |
| Posted By ZBomber on 7/19/04 @ 2:40:48 PM |
| I'm using a ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. Is this good enough to run any new games that'll come soon, or do I need to get a new one to play games like Half Life 2? |
| Posted By Black-Syth on 7/19/04 @ 4:39:50 PM | ||||
Yes, I would. It all depends on how much money you've got to spend. If you've got cash, and lots of it, Falcon is a good company to go to. If you have a bit o' cash, wanna pinch pennies and still have a bad-ass system, ABS is the way to go.
Your Radeon 9600Pro should be just fine for HL2. I have a 9700Pro, and your card is just below that. I can run DOOM III alpha leak smooth as fuckin' butter. You've got a great card, and it should be just fine for quite a while. Helluva overclocker, too. Now, if I knew what the rest of your specs are, I could definitively tell you if your computer is cut out for next-gen games. However, I doubt you'd have a shitty rig with a 9600Pro sitting comfortably in the AGP slot. |
| Posted By ZBomber on 7/19/04 @ 4:43:55 PM |
| Yeh, I made this computer last year. 1 gig of RAM, 200 Gigs of hardrive, and a bunch of other great things. Just wasn't sure if HL2 would run smooth because Star Wars knights olf the Old Republic does not wqrk well with ATI cards, and it is a fairly new game for PC. Once again, thanks for your help! |

| Posted By Black-Syth on 7/19/04 @ 9:28:05 PM | ||

This is why you avoid the damn popups, and hit the download. There are ways to outsmart these motherfuckers. I've never gotten a trojan from them. Alright, if you need a serial from me, encrypt your aim at www.aimencrypted.com and contact me.
If I knew anything about Diablo, I'd help him out. I'm just a computer geek, not a Diablo junkie. I'd help im' though. |

What do you mean? If you mean burning DVDs (movies), then DVD X-Copy is for you. If not, and you just need to make backups, I use Nero's DVD burning software. You can get Nero 6 Ultra from Kazaa, as well as the serials. Ditto for DVD X. |

Roxio is a great program for DVD/Music burning. I use Nero, but it's all a matter of interface preference. Download Nero 6, give it a shot, and see which you like better. To my knowledge, both programs can get done what you want in a reasonable amount of time, just as well. So, have a ball.
