I just made this signature in Photoshop today. I think it looks pretty good, but I am always open to suggestions. What do you guys think I could do to make it look better? BTW: Be honest. I know I am not too good with Photoshop. I do not have a lot of experience with the program yet.

My suggestion... *BEING HONOST* ... make a new sig. I don't know why, but I really just don't like it. It's decent for a beginner, the font matches, but I just don't like it... at all. |

I admire your honesty. *goes to his room to cry* So, do you have an idea about how I could make another signature that looks better? I looked for tutorials for a while, but I can't find too many things that I like a lot. |
| Posted By lincolnluxor on 8/12/04 @ 10:48:15 PM |
| best way to start in my eyes... get some cool brushes and work with them |
| Posted By TMaC on 8/12/04 @ 10:58:11 PM |
| Ok, that sounds good. I don't have any custom brushes yet. Do you have a link to a site where I can get some good ones? I am kind of new at this. |
| Posted By lincolnluxor on 8/12/04 @ 11:29:11 PM |
| google it... hundreds of thousands of different brushes on the net... after you use some premade ones for a while... make you own |

I don't like the sig, simply because I know exactly how easy it is to make, but I know when i first started ppl said that about my shit to, even though it may have taken me a long time to figure it out. I like it, goes well. I'm happy you put a border on it, it took me 3 or 4 sigs before i realized that a border instantly improves any image |

I can't find any good brushes. I will try a little more I guess, but do you have any sites? I made a new signature in Photoshop today because I was bored. I know it sucks, so I won't even ask you guys what you think of it. ![]() I was just trying to make this text affect that I thought up because I thought it would look cool. |
| Posted By Scuba Steve on 8/17/04 @ 10:40:45 AM |
| I thank that sig is awsome. Compared to what I could make that's a fricken million dollar program that you used. |

Flashing text is annoying. Maybe just use regular text, and it'll look good. |
| Posted By lincolnluxor on 8/17/04 @ 11:07:18 AM |
|
wow?! You couldn't find any brushes? go HERE. it's a google search for brushes+photoshop. even though you might not think they look that cool... just mash them all on one image, and it will normally end up looking cool. |
| Posted By platnum on 8/17/04 @ 2:23:07 PM |
| Cut that sig down to about half that size and take off the flashing text, then it will look cool. |
| Posted By Scuba Steve on 8/17/04 @ 2:43:57 PM |
|
Yeah you guys are right. The flashing text is a little annoying. Yeah regular non flashing text would be better. |

| I said I didn't like the background. I already got out of Photoshop. That signature is just giving me problems anyways. I will post a new one when I finish. I will keep in mind what you guys said about this one. |

I felt that way too. I still do feel that way actually. All of my stuff sucks, but I am okay with it. Can you guys tell me what you think I should cahnge about this signature I just made?

#1 biggest thing... 1 px black border around it! #2. you have to much border on the right side. |
| Posted By TMaC on 8/18/04 @ 9:57:12 PM |
Ok, Lincoln. Does this look better? I put a 1px border and fixed the right side.![]() Is there anything else you think I should do to it? |

Get a better fucking color scheme. It just doesn't look right with Metal links, and then having bright blue in the background. =\ |
| Posted By TMaC on 8/18/04 @ 9:59:51 PM |
| Do you have a better color scheme in mind, Tokin? |
| Posted By Tokin on 8/18/04 @ 10:12:22 PM |

I just don't like the border, and it doesn't go with the blue. Always try to have some of the borders color in the background. I have a little black in mine, with black text. And, first of all, fire(orange and yellow or w/e) goes well with black to begin with. Black doesn't match such a vibrant shade of blue, at least thats what I think. I may be wrong. |
| Posted By ZBomber on 8/18/04 @ 10:41:06 PM |
|
Yeh, get a different border.... it kinda reminds me of a shirt a gay guy would wear. (Why? No clue, and no offence.....) Maybe make the colorful swirls red too. |

It'd be fine if you did this. Hopefully you still have all your layers not-merged. Reselct your border, make a new layer (not duplicate) Click your eyedropper and get that blue color Fill it on the new layer, and change the blending mode to color Lower the opacity as necessary, and perhaps go to Image > adjustment > brightness/contrast to make it look better You'll keep the border links, but have it blend better a little bit. In my mind though, I just don't like the pattern/texture of the border, but thats personal preference, it doesnt mean it can't work. |

I wasn't getting anything too good doing what you said, Logic. I am just messing it up. I will try it more, but I think I made one that looks better than the other ones. Tell me if you think it is good or if I should try to do what Logic said.

That is alot better, recolor your name to the color of the border, and make the blue closer to the color of the border. I like that gray/teal thing alot better than the bright blue. |

How do you think I should change the color of the background to make it look better with the border? I did change the text though. Here is the signature with the text changed.
|
| Posted By Scuba Steve on 8/19/04 @ 1:14:15 PM |
| The text is awesome. Can you change the color of the border? Because the background looks awesome with the text, but it doesn’t look so great with the border. |
| Posted By TMaC on 8/19/04 @ 1:16:05 PM |
| Tokin was telling me to change to color of the background to match the border. Now you tell me to change the color of the border to match the background. How do I make the border and the background match better? |
| Posted By Scuba Steve on 8/19/04 @ 1:19:30 PM |
| If you made the color of the bourder a darkish blue. It would look awesome. Well at least it would look awesome to me. |

I value your opinion. Really. Anyway, TMaC, Just select the background layer, hit Ctrl + U and set it closer to the color of the border. If you already rasterrized or merged the layers or w/e then just use the magic wand tool, select part of the background, hold shift and keep selecting other parts until you have every part of the background included in the selection. Ignore that above if you DO have the layer with just the background, its easier that way anyway. Anyway, take the Eye Dropper tool and select a part of the border that is the medium of the range of colors on it. The background image you have goes from Dark Gray/Green to basically white. So just use the dropper on a part that is basically just gray/green and then select the background layer, go into the Hue/Saturation settings (Ctrl+U) and just hit "colorize" in the bottom right hand corner. I usually play around with it abit so its not EXACTLY the same color has the border, but close enough on the color wheel to blend well. When its exact, you get less of a focal point(Which would be the background) because it matches..too well? That may just what I think, anyway. |

I took a color from the border and used it in the background using the eye dropper tool. I am not sure if it looks good or not. Tell me what you think.

Maybe you should try a fire theme instead? AIM me if you think that would be better. If not, try it the other way around now. Colorize the border with a darker part of the blue. Don't use the most common blue on there though, the it will blend too well, I think, since there is alot of it. The blue where the black is in the top left, right on the edge, I think that would look okay. And, if you like the teal/green/gray thing, then don't darken it so much, or darken it more, or lighten it more. Just NOT where it is right now, it doesn't look right. |
| Posted By TMaC on 8/19/04 @ 5:04:18 PM |

I don't really like the teal/green/gray too much. Here is the one with the blue border. ![]() Do you think it would look better if I did fire? |
| Posted By Tokin on 8/19/04 @ 5:08:35 PM |
|
I like that new one with the blue, just match the font with it now. Fire may be better, its all up to you. Don't do fire because I say its better though, I'm obsessed with fire (IRL=PYRO=ME) and like the layout of it with black. I think it looks beautiful. Anyway, yeah, its all up to you. |
| Posted By TMaC on 8/19/04 @ 5:13:58 PM |
| I like it how it is actually. I will just make the border better by making it straighter and stuff and make the text color match the border. Thanks for your help, Tokin. |

Looks awesome TMac! You've really improved it from the piece of crap that you started with. |

I could help you. If you want a really good one, you could ask someone who is good with Photoshop though. Could someone please split this thread to take the signature request out of my thread? Thanks. |
