Well, Dragon Warrior is about equal in popularity in Japan (to Final Fantasy), if not a bit more. Theres actually a LAW saying that Dragon Warrior games cannot be released on weekdays, because soo many people skip school/work to get it, and they tend to do anything to get a copy of it (beating the shit out of kids!).
I have played both series, and im a much bigger fan of Final Fantasy. I like the story lines a bit more, along with the graphics and gameplay (overall). Both great games though!
