Episode one kicked ass.
its my personal favorite of all the star wars movies. Qui-gon jinn Kicks so much ass. and I like darth maul so much better then vader also. The speciak effects in episode one again reset the bar for special effects for the industry, lucasfilms ltd and the industrial sound and light did a spectular job with the video.
The plot was awsome and the actors chosen were optimal. It was a great setup for the trilogy. only problem I had with it was jar jar binks, he should have never been part of the movies.
I also think that george lucas made a big mistake. Before the movie was released he released the toys (dual edged light saber, costumes etc) how much cooler would it have been if noone knew darth maul had a dual edged light saber, and in the movie when he lit one up, then the other, how much more badass would that have been.

Hippocrate. You're going off topic for saying that I'm going off topic and hence because I have said that, I am going off topic. If you reply to this post by saying I am off topic, then you'll be off topic again.

Listen this is a debate topic on star wars. If you have any corrections on how I see things post one in off topic, or yet another one of you pointless topics in gv discussion, but this is for members to debate on wether then think star wars episode 1 was a good movie or not, and just because you may be done with your debate dosent mean you can keep general chatting here, if your not going to say anything constructive to this debate, then say nothing. now let this get back on topic.

The movie compared to its earlier counterparts was a discrace, but if its the only star wars you have seen its decient as a movie. The other movies are just clasics and the new movie killed that because it will never be good enought to be a classic

Ive seen all the starwars, and my I still think that episode 1 is still the best. The lightsaber fights are supreme.

I agree. Its not that it was a bad movie, its just that in comparison to the others - its not amazing. I would buy it on DVD, but I dont think id watch it much. It does have great effects and all, but back then the star wars was revolutionary, Episode I, isnt.

The movie doesn't have as much heart as the original trilogy. And it has a bit more cheesiness than I really accept. I may be alone here, but Anakin flying into the hanger and single-handedly destroying the Trade Federation flagship? Come on. I mean, Luke did the same thing almost, but it was a lot more difficult and you had the sense of a greater struggle. With Anakin, itjust seemed like a lucky accident. I did like some of the actors though. Still...lack of heart.
