I had what appears to be the cruise control lock up at 20mph when leaving home and I could not accelerate over 20mph. There was a green symbol on the dash saying 20 mph limit or lock, can't remember which. I must have accidentally hit a button somewhere somehow and I could not get it off. Shut the car down and restarted and it went away. I contacted my dealer to find out how this could have happened and they had absolutely no idea!! Said they never heard of such a thing.

I am wondering if I accidentally hit the cruise button when backing out of the garage and that did it? I could not figure out how to turn it off, had to turn the car off.

Its a feature, not a bug. Called Manual Speed Limit Assist. Its activated by pressing and holding the Mode button on the steering wheel. Its deactivated by simply pressing the Mode button again. See section 7 in your good ol owners manual.

You must have held the Cruise button too long and activated speed limiting instead of cruise control because cruise control won't even activate until you are doing 40mph.

GV80AL is right. I use speed limiting all the time around town where I don't want my speed to get away from me.

Ah, thanks. I must have had my finger on the button and held it too long when I was backing out of the garage.
Is it holding the Mode button or the Cruise button too long?
There is no actual cruise button it’s the mode button. And because it does both functions is why it’s not labeled a cruise button. The button has two modes, cruise is short press, speed limiting is long press.

So there are sections. The 1 before the - is the section. If you find the first page in each section there is a contents list. I don’t have my book with me to look for it. But you should be able to find it by checking the contents.
We must have different manuals. Mine does not have what you are describing, there are no section delineations at all, just 1-185. I have looked at the information for the cruise control and the Manual Assist feature is not mentioned.
Thanks so much for letting me know about this, at least I now know how it was activated and how to turn it off.
Very surprised it is not in my manual and the dealer service staff was clueless.

I am not sure which manual you have, mine looks like this...

1821

manual speed limit assist is on page 7-54 of my manual.

1822

But if your manual is that small it won’t be on the same page. As my manual is about 600 pages.

I was just told there was a more extensive manual stowed in the cargo area!! I found what you are describing. My sales agent never told me about this manual in the cargo area. Thanks again.
