On Tuesday, Genesis revealed the 2022 GV70, adding a sportier SUV to their lineup alongside the GV80.
Here are 5 things you need to know about the GV80 following its debut online.
1) The GV70 will have a fingerprint authentication system
The GV70 will be the first vehicle with a “fingerprint authentication system” designed to improve safety and convenience.
The system allows drivers to do things such as in-car payments, start the engine, and in valet mode to prevent personal information, such as their home address or phone number, from appearing on the infotainment screen when others drive their car.
2) It has exclusive exterior and interior colors
According to Genesis there will be 13 paint options to choose from, including three new ones: Mauna Red, Barossa Burgundy (metallic) and Barossa Burgundy (matte).
The GV70 also offers metallic colors such as Cardiff Green, Uyuni White, Vik Black, Saville Silver, Royal Blue and Carbon Metal. The other available matte colors are Matterhorn White, Melbourne Grey and Brunswick Green.
For the interior The GV70 offers a choice of five interior colors, including Obsidian Black Monotone, Obsidian Black/Vanilla Beige Two-tone, Ocean Waves Blue/Pine Grove Green Two-tone, Ocean Waves Blue/Havana Brown Two-tone, and Slate Gray/Velvet Burgundy Two-tone.
Sport Package models also offer exclusive colors: Ultramarine Blue Monotone, Obsidian Black Monotone, and Obsidian Black/Seville Red Two-tone.
3) There’s an optional Sport Package
The GV70 comes with an optional Sport Package that has a variety of upgrades. Both for performance and design.
For performance the Sport Package comes with an Electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) system that isn’t offered on other models.
On the exterior the GV70 gets a blacked out bezel, a dark chrome garnished grille mesh design, an exclusive bumper design, a large circular muffler, a body-colored diffuser, and 19- and 21-inch Sport-exclusive wheels.
The interior of the GV70 Sport Package comes with exclusive interior colors, an exclusive steering wheel, and optional carbon fiber details on the console and door.
4) It’s the first Genesis SUV with Launch Control
The GV70 will be the first Genesis SUV to come with launch control for more dynamic driving.
With launch control the GV70 with the 3.5L turbocharged V6 can reach 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds.
5) There will be 3 engine options
Genesis says there will be 3 engine options to choose from, a gasoline 3.5L turbocharged V6, gasoline 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder, and a 2.2L diesel engine.
Genesis says that each engine is available with the Sport Package.
While Genesis hasn’t confirmed it yet, it’s likely that the diesel engine won’t be available in North America like with the GV80.
