Annoying Problem

I'm having an issue with my GV80... It's an annoyence really. I'm driving with the Map screen active (either with or without a destination) and after a few minutes the screen goes back to the screen with all the icons (Home Screen). I tried various other settings, like playing different sources for the music I'm listening to, trying it with or without directions active, but can't find the fault. I know I can reset the system by pressing Map and Setup but would rather not do that due to losing data already stored.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior?

I drive with the map screen on all of the time. Never had a problem yet. Knock wood.

Me too. Seems to be a software glitch. Same problem happening on the 2021 G80 loaner they gave me while they try to solve the issue.
Did they solve it for you?

Can I ask a favor? Can you take a picture of the screen that shows the SW versions you are running? I’d like to see what you’re running, compared to mine and see if I install the same version as you if the problem goes away.

Here's what shows on my screen, it has a scroll to second page so I'll just type the info here.

I'm calling my problem a non-persistent nav screen. There are two SW versions that are different from the version that is reported to work well.

Here is what I found:
1753

I will research this with Genesis and report back here with the answer I have found.

Please note the information on the left of this table that I provided has NOT been upgraded with the available new upgrade as of yet. I'm more of the thought that I don't want to be the first in case there are issues. So I usually lag behind on upgrades for a bit. This is the nav that came with my car, it was updated at the port when it arrived in the US and we were told so when waiting for the car as this was a pre-ordered vehicle.

I just suddenly developed this exact problem as you described it. Did you ever get a resolution to your problem? What was the cause and how was it corrected? I also do not want to mess with the system myself and will be making an appointment with the dealer next week. I would appreciate any reply. Thank you.

I just developed the same problem too. After about a minute or so, the screen says "Navigation Currently Unavailable". If I stop and put the car in park and then put it into gear again the navigation comes back for about a minute and then cuts out again. I noticed this thread started about 3 months ago with the most recent thread 21 hours ago. Has anyone found a remedy to the problem? What is Genesis saying about it?

I also got the same message on the screen when it went to the icons selection screen by itself and then also further automatically changed itself to the screen saver screen (ie picture of the weather and temperature) with a warning on that screen saying “navigation currently unavailable,” as you just described. I have never had that warning in any of my cars driving all the same routes. So it is definitely a car specific GPS/infotainment issue with the GV80. Being that it prevents me from using the GPS navigation system for my business trips, I consider this a very serious issue. For me it’s not just an annoyance.

So it seems like more than one of us are having the same problem. I bet it's some kind of a software issue. I'm going to call my dealership today to make an appointment to bring my GV80 in as well.
I spoke with the Genesis dealership this morning to schedule the repair of our issue. The service manager said that Genesis is aware of the problem. It is considered to be an issue with the operating system for the entire infotainment system. The solution will be a software update. I asked the expected ETA for the software fix. It has not yet been established. Stay tuned.

Ok, so I called my dealership too. They said the same thing, they're not quite sure what causes it but they've had quite a few and when they download the latest version of the software the problem is remedied, go figure. They said I can wait while they do the download, shouldn't take more than an hour. Stay tuned and I'll let you know how it goes as I'm going tomorrow Tuesday.
Interesting that my dealer said Genesis is still working on creating an OS update for this and that it is projected to become available around September but that this is not certain. That’s why I didn’t post the possible date, because it may be inaccurate. Would you be so kind as to post the OS identification Version number after your new OS is installed so I can compare that to my current OS version and compared to what my dealer knows about the identification of the anticipated update. If you are getting an update then my dealer should be aware of such an update being available. My car was produced in the factory in February of 2021. Maybe yours was an earlier car? Or was it?

My GV80 was produced in November of '21 so it's earlier than yours. I'm here now, I'll ask about the OS version when they're done.

Ok, so as soon as replying to you above they told me they updated the software and it's still not working. They then told me exactly what you were told that Genesis is working on an update that should be ready in September. They explained that in the other vehicles that they reinstalled the software the system then functioned properly, but not on mine. They actually had another GV80 in there now they worked on just before mine and it worked. So unfortunately I don't have an OS version to give you, we're all in the same boat right now, we have to wait a little for the fix.
I had a hunch that might happen. When I had talked to my service manager he said, previously when they tried to fix the problem by reinstalling the latest current OS, it did not fix the problem permanently. So he said it was not worthwhile reinstalling the latest current OS (which my GV came with) and that we would have to wait. He did not want to promise September because he said the updates are not always released on time. I thought that was honest. Thanks much for letting me know your experience.
