Agree 100%, you would think Genesis could come up with a little change in design to avert this.. This was actually one of the reasons I went with a Palisade instead….Small reason but never the less…That ugly plate in the middle of the grill for us in states that require it really spoils the look. Anyone brave enough to relocate it? Tips? Thanks.
Purchased a retractable plate relocator for my GV80… 6 months in no issues driving in NY. I do have to drive with the plate down otherwise sensor goes off constantly. Couldn’t find a spot where it didn’t interfere with one but as mentioned drive with the plate down/keeps the look of the clean grille.I've heard using these messes with the sensors on the front bumper (crash detection, etc.) - anyone actually installed one and had them work?

I agree the front plate in the middle of the grille looks ugly. I have 2 possible solutions for you and anyone else with this complaint. Here in British Columbia, the law states that the numbers/letters must be visible. So I have carefully folded the top and bottom of the plate over so that only the numbers/letters are visible. Then I have mounted it directly to the bumper and/or grille without using the mounting bracket. It gives the vehicle more of a European look and with a smaller plate. That ugly plate in the middle of the grill for us in states that require it really spoils the look. The kit comes with vehicle-specific instructions on where to mount the plate to avoid the sensors. There are examples of them installed on the "other" GV70 forum.I've heard using these messes with the sensors on the front bumper (crash detection, etc.) - anyone actually installed one and had them work?

Any trick or issues with removing the original bracket??SOLVED! Been looking for this for a while. Installed today and worked great. Less than other options I’ve seen. Included a picture of where the sensors are in relation to my mounting. No issues on a short drive. None. Four screws and it just pops out. Was worried about damaging the finish on the grill but it came out easy enough. Wouldn’t yank hard but with some pressure it will come east enough.Any trick or issues with removing the original bracket??
Sure is indeed ugly having a front plate on the GV70. That's why I don't have one. I never had a front plate on my cars for 20 years in southern Cal. This includes my 2015 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack (Cop magnet). I have never been pulled over or cited for it.I agree the front plate in the middle of the grille looks ugly. On my Palisade I mounted it directly to the bumper with 2 S/S screws. On my Mercedes-Benz I was able to mount it on the lower grille with bolts from the back of the grille and S/S acorn nuts on the front. I will attach 4 pictures showing each installation. I have been operating this way for almost 5 years and have never had an issue with the law. If I was ever questioned, I would point out that many license plate surround brackets also only allow the numbers/letters to show.
I just ordered the new GV70e and I intend to mount the plate from the MB directly to the grille, but closer to the bottom of the grille.
That’s funny. I have the same color GV70 AND got the same plate relocation from the same vendor. Love it and zero sensor issues. Drove from FL to TX, no problems. Just don’t go through a car wash with it on.SOLVED! Been looking for this for a while. Installed today and worked great. Less than other options I’ve seen.
