OR...Unless you're trying for record ¼ mile runs or beating ricers off the line, just use regular!
Premium is suggested, but regular works just fine. 14k using it, and not a smidgen of trouble or regret!

I have pasted below the exact words from the Owner's Manual. The manual and cap cap recommend but does not require the use of 91 Octane. In fact it states the vehicle is designed to perform optimally on both octance levels.

"Your new vehicle is designed to obtain maximum performance with UNLEADED FUEL,
as well as minimize exhaust emissions and spark plug fouling.
Your new vehicle is designed to perform optimally using unleaded fuel having an
octane number ((R+M)/2) of 87 (Research Octane Number 91) or higher.
For improved
vehicle performance, premium unleaded fuel with an octane number ((R+M)/2) of
91 (Research Octane Number 95) or higher is recommended. (Do not use methanol
blended fuels.)"

Back in the day, when there were no computers, a mechanic would set your car to run on whatever gas was in the car at the time. I think timing was one of the settings. But now with computers, it will figure out what is going in and how the engine response and will do the adjustments on the fly.
Also, something kind of related, if you don't use Top Tier Gas, they recommend putting in additives to your gas.,

All of the Gv80 3.5 owners on this thread , check your heater on passenger side when you are stopped .
While car is moving warm air comes from both sides , when car has stopped cold air blows out of passenger side .
This has to do with octane ratings?
(My heater blows warm/hot on both sides no matter the speed or idle.)
