Check Engine repeat issue

Has anyone’s GV70 Malfunction Indicator Lamp (aka Check Engine Light) come on? Dealer “fixed” mine and the light came back on, one day later. Fuel cap appears to be seated correctly.

I have also had this issue but currently I am in the middle of waiting to take it in. I posted in the other genesis forum regarding this but basically when I purchased the vehicle there was an issue with the safety features failing. The lights came on and so did the check engine. They said it was just a battery reset issue, "fixed" it, and everything seemed fine. It has about 3500 miles on it. Every time I start it, or at least every other start up, 6 red flags come on and also the lane center doesn't work. Eventually it goes away while driving but now the check engine light is on and has not gone away in a few days. I tried getting an answer in the other forum in case it may be something like a software issue but so far no luck. I have an appointment today through the genesis app to have my car picked up and leave a loaner to take it in for the issue.

It could be something small but I checked the fuel cap and don't top up so I cant see how that is the issue, especially when the safety features have been having issues. I really hope I don't get an answer that its all good, the light just stays on cause of a glitch or whatever. I was so excited and still am to have this car but I don't want this to be a recurring issue. I hope there's a simple fix for it.

Welcome @jax501! When you took it in to your dealer did they tell you the light came on because fo the fuel cap?
Thanks.
I mentioned the gas cap because it's a pretty common way to set off the check engine light if not seated properly.
The dealer replaced the purge valve solenoid, so I'm guessing that was throwing an error code. A day later the error light came back on.
Driving a GV80. At 1700 miles the Check Engine Light came on (steady, not flashing). We run an automotive repair facility so have access to scanning equipment. Code set was for a small evap leak. Reset the light and it is still off at 2000+ miles. This leak is strictly an EPA thing and has nothing to do with driveability or performance. Still, it should not be present. Gas cap is not an issue as 1) It is new! and 2) I filled up three days before the light came on. To add icing to the cake, the nearest Genesis dealer is 220 miles away. I will complain and will certainly have them check why the light came on (loose hose? etc.). For peace of mind you may want to go to a shop having scan equipment and just ask them to read the code.
I also have a GV80 (2.5T AWD Prestige), and have had the check engine light come on twice. It went off spontaneously after about 800 miles, but came back on recently at 5k miles and has not gone off yet. I also live far from a Genesis dealer, so have not been able to get "concierge" service. My question for you is this- How did you "reset the light"? I can probably borrow an OBD scanner, but am not familiar with how they work or if they give you the option to reset. BTW, I have tried all the obvious fixes including gas cap, and I never top-off. Thank you.

If you have an OBDII scanner there is typically a menu button that asks if you want to clear the code(s). Then it will typically ask are you sure you want to clear the code(s)?. Answer yes and it should clear the code. If the code comes back on more or less immediately it is considered a "hard" code and at that stage you should start calling the Genesis dealer for help. Check out the code number and see what it relates to. If it is an evap leak, not a big issue but it should be investigated "why". If it is O2 sensor related or cat related it could be more serious.

Got it- thank you very much for this helpful info

So, I borrowed an OBDII scanner and got the code "P0304" which is "Cylinder 4 misfire detected". I cleared the code (and the Check engine light went off), but I will get my GV80 into a dealer as soon as I can, which realistically will not be until I am back in FL where I purchased it (about 2 weeks from now). Thanks again.
We have a 22 GV70 with an engine light for the 4th time. Cylinder 3 misfire. Dealership replaced the fuel injector after swapping coils last time. Light is back on and now am speaking with corporate. Will let you know although this is an old thread/

I'm not against deleting the code, but that also deletes history of intermittent faults in other modules that may contribute to the failure. And, of course, the rest date IS stores in the vehicles memory. Not sure what Genesis would do if someone cleared their own fault and it was a serious issue...I did it once on my Audi and got lectured by the service manager for those very reasons.

This is the exact reason I never recommend deleting codes.
If anything, just scan it, and send the entire scan report to the dealer for diagnosis when you live far...
Again, just my .02c from experience (adjusted for inflation, .50c).

Tried to PM you but don't meet the forum criteria. Wondering if you've had a resolution to your check engine light problem. I am having a very similar situation as my car will be going in for the 3rd time with a Cylinder 4 misfire. The first time service did nothing except say that no misfires were detected. Second time they replaced an ignition coil and spark plug, but it's now back on for a 3rd time just a few days later.

The car has no drivability issues, but this is extremely irritating on a car that's 3 months old with 1,500 miles on it. I intend to contact Genesis customer care next.
The light went off on it's own and has been off for a week or more. That also happened before, but I am taking the car to a different dealer next week light or not. No drivability issues, but just want peace of mind.
Corporate has been on top of it, and they arranged the appointment after the last dealer was unsatisfactory.

I have just started having problems with my check engine light. I feel like the dealership is grasping at straws and I am afraid to have them start replacing parts. First they were going to replace the fuel pump and now they want to replace the injectors but I was told that is going to take 5-6 months and I could drive a loaner. My husband took my car and told them to call when the part came in. Has anyone had any resolution to this problem? I think the car is too pricey for this problem already, I just got it in June.
My GV70 has 19k miles and very similar issues I think. While driving, the accelerator pretty much would not allow the vehicle to go more than 40 mph no matter how hard the accelerator pedal was pushed. The check engine light came on and I am pretty sure that some part of the engine is misfiring. I had a similar issue with a BMW M5 where 6 of 12 cylinders would shut down due to misfiring. It happened over and over after spending thousands of dollars I got rid of that thing. I REALLY hope this vehicle does not carry the same characteristics! Trying to take it to the dealership first thing in the morning with hopes of them squeezing me in to run diagnostics.
Maybe carbon buildup in the combustion chamber or intake valves? Although since I think this is a Direct Injection + Port Injection engine supposedly that should not happen.
