Cracked windshield

I know this is not related to problems that any one her can solve. Just want to express frustration and concern. My 2.5 Prestige with 2500 miles on it now have a large crack in the windshield caused by a rock on the highway. The insurance company is handling it. I just worry that when all finished whether there will be problems plus how long to get a new one. There are none available on the after market. The glass company will go to my preferred dealership to install the windshield. Then dealership will do whatever is necessary to make the new windshield compatible. Should be interesting!!!

Please keep us posted as to how it all goes. We're preparing for a 3k plus road trip, and here's hoping no rock chips.

Will do. Already been told windshield on back order. Have no idea when repairs will be done.
I'm dealing with this too. A small pebble and now a $2300 windshield to replace. Local auto glass shop puts in a new window and the dealership will calibrate the sensors. Thank goodness my policy has a $100 deductible.

Wow, yours looks very similar to mine. Same area and same curve in crack. When will you get the windshield? Mine is supposedly on back order. Not expecting a new any time soon. Good luck. Let us know how the calibration goes?
could it be a stress crack if both of yours are in the same place did you see the rock hit the window or did you just hear a pop & then the crack? we had to order a windshield for our jag it came from over seas 3 weeks & it was broken in the box so the next one came by air 4 days it was good but i couldnt believe how thin it was 1/8 inch nothing like the old cars
My vehicle is a gv80 and I think the other one is a gv70. I was in the car and it was a rock. Almost sounded like a bullet. I sure hope I can get a replacement that soon. Insurance agent said a client had a Fpace and it took from April to August to be repaired. Thanks for your thoughts.
Ours was a 2018 f pace with the Hud display that's why we had to get it from overseas the aftermarket one here in the USA doesn't have the special coating to reflect the hud . I could get a regular one here in 2 days

The same exact thing happened to my GV80 yesterday. Heard something hit the windshield causing a small chip. within two hours a crack was traveling across the entire windshield. Made an appointment with Safelite Auto Glass through my insurance company. Hope that the new windshield is available. Safelite already advised that after installation it must go to the dealership for recalibration. The appointment is for next week!
i cant believe a large co. like safe lite cant re calibrate the cameras all their adds show them doing it.. my little mom-pop glass co did our jag.
Received this from the insurance company:
"As a reminder, your windshield is fitted with a forward-facing camera connected to advanced safety systems. Some vehicle manufacturers require a recalibration of the camera system after a windshield replacement. You must check with your vehicle manufacturer in order to determine whether the camera system must be recalibrated. If so, you must go to a dealership (or other qualified specialist) to have your camera system recalibrated as soon as possible after the replacement of your windshield."
Also received a similar message from Safelite Auto Glass to go to the dealership.
I checked with the Genesis dealership and they advised it will take one to two hours to complete.
1 hour 45 minute wait time 15 minutes of work LOL

I’m still waiting after almost two weeks to get my window replaced! My glass shop says they’re still waiting for my insurance to approve the OEM windshield. There is no aftermarket available yet, so I don’t know what they’re stalling for.
That's bs tell them it's a safety hazard you can't see clearly though the cracks and windshields are a structural part of the car and if you get in a accident it could make it worse. Give you a rental till it's fixed or approve the factory windshield now.

Mine happened August 23. Had no problem with State Farm approving. Finding seems to take time. I checked last Thursday with the glass company (Caliber Glass) and they have set up an appt. on Tuesday 9/21 to replace at the dealer's who will then calibrate it. We shall see how it goes. Will keep all informed. Hope your folks get moving soon.
My front windshield cracked from a stone hitting it on the highway. The crack goes halfway across the entire windshield. My insurance company has authorized full replacement and calibration but no one can get a new windshield. The Genesis dealership advised that the windshield is back-ordered and could take up to six weeks to arrive. My vehicle is not safe to drive.
I'm still dealing my insurance. Found out today from the glass shop they were told by my insurance I had to review and approve an "e-form" about the replacement OEM windshield because it's "over the client threshold". A rep at the insurance company didn't know about this either, but they found an email to contact and find out what this "e-form" is because no one has contacted me about it. Over three weeks and still can't make an appointment to take of this. Replacing a windshield shouldn't be this much of a headache.

Uplate: it has been 9 days unable to drive my vehicle. Windshield on back order according to Genesis. Expected maybe at the end of October! Genesis refused to provide a loaner and insurance will not pay for a rental.

All of you with the cracks, what model and trims GV80 do you have? Just trying to see if it’s something specific to a trim.
