Checked the car out today. Red rear turn signals! Look really really bland. Complete cop out by Genesis USA. What happened to bright amber?? My 17 G80 has amber?? Rear middle seat also horrible. Non existent. Just the holder rest really! Weird. Car feels very confined to me. Not as roomy as I thought. Love the infotainment center. Ambient sounds incredible. Loved the rain forest and cafe!! Absolutely beautiful car but beauty isn’t everything. Left disappointed.

Can anyone confirm what the front turn signals are like on North American models?

Is is like this Korean model?

US model amber front and side just like Korean model.Rear turn signals unlike Korean and rest of world ,1980s North American boring bland unsafe medieval red!! What were they thinking. I thought finally the US market was moving away from red rear turn signals! Every Genesis is Amber rear turn signals up until GV80!!
Seriously check out of the middle second row seat; it doesn’t exist!! Ridiculous.

Do you still plan on getting a GV80?

Can someone measure the middle portion of the back seat. I'm curious as to how it measures up to the one in my ML. I have a feeling it's bigger than the ML center seat but looks smaller because it's all arm rest. I think the ML arm rest isn't as wide. But would like to know the measurement of the armrest portion and seat portion of the middle back row if anyone has the time to measure it. Thanks in advance.

Afraid not. The car will still sell very well. It’s beautiful, it really is. People will buy for that alone. I will not. Too small. Just seemed too cramped....that middle rear seat...awful. Wife thought it was quite hilarious in a $79,000.00 MSRP car!!! The Santa Fe parked nearby had a better middle rear seat!! Think we will end up with the Merc after all even with it’s red rear turn signals! (Which you know I hate) Not much more In dollars and it’s got proper middle row seats !!

I guess I must be dense because the only difference I see between my Mercedes (or photos online of any other back seat in a car this size) and the GV80 back seat is that the outside seats look a lot more comfortable and less boxy. The middle "seat" has never been a real seat in this size SUV. Mine is only 13" wide and given that the GV80 is 2" wider than the ML350 and that the seat configuration is still split the same, 40-20-40 vs 60-40 I'm guessing that the middle area is actually wider by just a smidge than my car currently. Have I used the middle seat for hauling around 5 full size adults? Absolutely. It's not that uncomfortable. Would I do it on long trips probably not. But that said my Brother has a Palisade and really even though it says it seats 7, 3 of those better be kids under the age of 9. It can hold 5 adults but one of you is sitting in the kiddie seat sideways. And I'd rather sit in the middle back seat than have to crawl to the back of the car hunched over. But without knowing the actual width of the middle of the back seat I cannot say how it compares to what I have now. I'm thinking for 4 adults it will be more than comfortable. But really most of the 7 seaters with middle row captain's chairs are for 4 adults anyway. Can someone enlighten me why this would be a deal breaker in this size class. I can see if you are comparing it to say a GLS450, but that's a bigger and more expensive car.

You are comparing the Smaller ML series to the GV80. It’s up against the GLS not the ML.
GLS 450 starts at $79,000.00 , same price as the GV80 I test drove. GLS far superior vehicle !! Purchasing this vehicle and I can’t wait !!!

To make it fair, you'd have to add to the price of the GLS450 to bring it up to what's in the GV80 the following options: 21" rims as 22" are not available, panoramic sunroof, rear roof spoiler, load sill protector, leather seats, natural wood, suede head liner, heated steering, comfort package, multi comfort seats, warmth package, second row heated seats, power sunshades, heads up display, soft close doors, active driver assist, and side impact air bags which are all options on the GLS450. Bringing the price of the GLS to $92,560 as per the MB Build site, if you can find one with all of those options. I still think the GV80 compares more to the GLE350 as they are almost the same size and both 5 seaters. The GLS450 is 10" longer and a 7 seater. But that's just my opinion. I've driven two GLS450s as loaners One was priced at $109,500 and the other at $98,900 (the stickers were in the glove box) and didn't find them to be any wider than my ML, just taller and longer. But all of the instruments were the same in both. And found the 360 camera a pain to get to as you had to go through three screens on the infotainment system to get to them on the GLS.

GLS vs GV80 vs GLE:
  • length: 205" vs 194.7" vs 194.3"
  • width: 84.9" vs 77.8" vs 76.7"
  • height: 71.8" vs 67.5" vs 70.7"
  • wheelbase: 123.4" vs 116.3" vs 117.9"
GLS is in a different class.

Unless MB has changed the packages from last year, if you want 3rd row A/C, you have to now move up to the GLS 580 which starts at $98,850. That was a deal breaker for me as in Arizona you definitely need the rear A/C.

Not sure I follow the logic on this . The fully loaded Gv80 Stickers for $72,500 not $79K.
The GLS is a full size SUV the GV80 is a Midsize . Two different Class sizes. It was stated correctly the GLE is the same size and class as the GV 80.
I believe you would be hard pressed to get a fully loaded GLS for under $100K with same specs as the fully loaded GV80. Excluding tax and dealer fees that's $27K more. I 100% agree its going to be a bigger better ride. But its comparing apples and oranges on the specs and the price.
If you are buying a midsize SUV with the expectation of fitting 5 adults in the first 2 rows I agree go to the FULL size SUV But you will pay about 25% more with a Mercedes. my 2 cents.

I agree, I don't feel the GV80 and the GLS450 should be compared together as they are different classes of vehicles but 17G80 was comparing them so I was trying to show the differences. Coming from an ML350 I can say that the GV80 puts it to shame. The GV80 is just stunning in every aspect.

Coming from the GLS, do you notice any lack of refinement that stands out here?
I hope the GV80 isn't that bad compared to its higher priced German rivals.

I finally got to test drive a prestige gv80 yesterday in Naples Florida.
I was extremely impressed by the looks both interior and exterior.
I only had about 30 minutes inside the car by myself here's what I noted my brief time with the vehicle.
Pros-gorgeous fit and finish on the interior. Quiet comfortable ride on those 22-in tires. Excellent handling. Something not talked about much in any review I've seen is the autonomous driving mode. Turn this on by accident and was pleasantly surprised at the vehicle will stay perfectly in a well-marked lane and adjust its speed based on traffic. It's not going to drive you from destination to destination moving in and out of traffic but it will keep you in your lane on the highway hands-free. Also got to try out the self parking mode outside of the car very slow doubtful I would ever use it but pretty cool.
Cons-not a lot of storage space inside the vehicle besides the rear cargo area. While the pickup and acceleration torque are good. There's definitely a lag for the turbo when you punch it.
The heads up display is surprisingly low resolution compared to my BMW750. Infotainment Center is going going to require a fair amount of learning not super intuitive. As stated in multiple reviews the control dial would be better served to actually be a dial that you could grab rather than pressing down and moving with your fingertips in my opinion. I didn't think the digital 3D gauge was all the hype that I've heard from many of the reviewers. But I drove it during the day so maybe at night it's effects are more pronounced. It's a little smaller than I expected. We own a Mercedes 350 and I would say it's similarly sized but feels smaller I'm guessing because of the larger center console. I'm 6'2 and about 225 lb found it to be extremely comfortable.
Overall super impressed . And quite excited to own.
Mine will be delivered this week and I'll pick it up when I return from vacation.
