In your vehicle.
Hey! So the spare tire that comes in the GV80 RWD is not a 22 inch rim… it is a basic spare tire will black hub that is made for the GV80… it will fit perfectly where the spare tire is supposed to go under back floor flip up panels. They ordered me the spare tire and the kit with jack etc that fits in side the back of spare tire. Tell your sales man, to look for the part number for the spare tire in GV80 RWD… there is not one for the AWD. I have the GV80 AWD prestige. I actually already had to use my spare tire and it worked great.

Good post! I was told that using the Genesis Compact Spare on the Prestige model might cause interference problems. When you had the flat was it front or rear tire? Thanks.

My flat was on the rear…I do not understand what they told you that… it is the same wheel base/ wheel cavity on all the models. Would not matter rather the flat was on back or front. Sounds like your sales person doesn’t know the GV80:)

On the prestige aren't the front brakes larger then the 3 other trims. I inquired about the possibility of fitting a Genesis Emergency Spare to the prestige. I was told the dealer does not have any such kit. They wanted a part number and indicated using such a kit was inappropriate on the Prestige due to its size because it could cause a number of problems and, if I did use such a spare it was entirely at my "peril". Genesis would not be responsible in any way. That pissed me off, to say the least. The dealer has the car that I want. Thanks to you, we know the spare fits and works well on the rear. You sound very certain that it will fit all wheels and I hope you are right. If I get the right answer to my concern, I will immediately purchase the prestige. I wish I had the answer as the dealer could sell the very rare beauty. Thanks...

So, what's the part number for the spare tire kit? Can you share so we can order one as well?

I contacted 3 genesis dealers parts departments regarding an emergency spare for the base RWD GV80. All three responded with there is no compact spare tire/kit included in their parts catalog. So how did you get one?

I am confused by these comments. I am considering the GV 80 Prestige, but it does not have a spare tire! And the dealership said I needed to buy the Advanced model to get one. Are you all
Saying there IS a spare tire kit available for the GV80 Prestige? WHERE DO YOU STORE IT IN THe CAR?

Hi Vivian,
From what I have been told (and seen), in order to have a spare tire, you have to buy the base or advanced model. The Prestige does not have one. It has an inflator kit. The inflator kit is worthless if you get a sidewall flat. Usually, when a flat happens, you have to seek a safe area on the road side, therefore there is a high probability of the rim cutting into the tire side wall destroying the tire. At this point a spare is needed or, if there is a cell signal, a call to AAA.

Another consideration is your driving climate. Are you located in an area with frequent snow and ice conditions? If so, the Prestige 3.5 Liter V6 has the Electronic Limited Slip Differential that substantially increases traction in onerous conditions.

Although in a previous posting someone claims to have purchased a spare tire kit, three dealer parts department managers told me NO SPARE KIT exists. One said, It will take time to become available especially with the current parts shortage.

As far as where to store a compact spare, although unconfirmed, there is a cargo storage compartment on the rear floor area (in front of the rear hatch). Supposedly, the plastic tray storage tray is removable and under it, may be space for a tire.

Hello. Thank you fir your response, but, I’m not sure I understand what you are saying. Are you saying you had one (a donut spare) previously on a different car and used it but did not like it?

And are you saying there IS such an item as Spare kit that actually fits in the GV 80 Prestoge

Thank you!
My response to the OEM Spare Tire Kit:

Coincidentally, I was just looking at that tire on EBay. Is it the 20” wheel? 175/70R20”? Can you take a photo showing how it fits? Also, what happens when you put the cargo cover back on? I’m assuming the GV80s that have a spare have some sort of plastic cargo tray that installs over the tire, and then the top cover goes over that to create the floor of the hatch.

I found a part number for the tray, but can’t seem to find how to buy it. 85750-T6100-4x. I wonder if you don’t use the stock 19” spare, will the tray fit over the tire?
You can get a 175/70 R20 tire from EzSpareWheel.com for $379 + $45 shipping. The wheel is designed to be mounted on vehicles with Brembo style calipers. I now have the 21 Prestige GV80. There is a storage compartment with a large plastic tray. THE TRAY HAS TO COME OUT IN ORDER TO SITUATE THE SPARE WHEEL/TIRE. With the tire mounted, there is about an inch space above where the floor panel is located. So, the tire takes up the cargo tray space. For me, I don't mind at all. I hope this helps.
