I've had my G90 for aobut 18 months. Since I brought the car home, the gas filler cap cover door randomly opens. I appears to happen when I start the car. I tightened the plastic ring that holds the solenoid in place and the frequence has decreased but it still happens.

I've told the dealer about it everytime I've had the car serviced, but they have not been able to reproduce the problem (as it's random and often doesn't happen) and so haven't done anything.

I'm getting very tired of having to have to stop and close the door before I can go about my business. At 80, it not easy to get in and out of the car.

Anyone have any idea how I might get this fixed. Or how I contact someone at Genesis that would take an interest in getting this fixed?

The solution lies in not accepting the dealer’s claim that they cannot do anything because they cannot reproduce the problem. That’s a common dealer response because it’s a cheap and easy way for them to avoid investing more time to diagnose and fix the problem. However, it is NOT true that intermittent problems cannot be solved.

There’s no question that it takes less talent, experience, effort and time to solve non-intermittent problems. Also, the individual service technicians are under pressure to complete each job quickly. So deal with the service manager, not the service writer. Insist that the problem not be ignored. Make sure they consult all manufacturer’s service bulletins. In my experience, the technicians often don’t do that because it takes too much time. Have them contact the manufacturer’s area technical support rep if necessary. If the service manager isn’t responsive, go to the general manager. If that doesn’t work, go to another dealer if one is available.

This process may take more effort and involvement that an 80 year old is prepared to invest. Unfortunately, that’s the way the system works in many dealerships. Speaking as an 83 year old former G90 owner, I can only say that for me, it’s been worth the effort.

Also, as you may know, your post somehow ended up in a GV forum rather than a G90 forum. You may want to re-post it to get better response.
