Insane pricing. Let them eat their SUV. The Germans spent decades building their reputation, Lexus 10 years. Genesis thinks 2 years of good reviews warrants topping both of these competitors in price? Sorry, babe, I ain't buying it. I'm gone.
It's not cheap by any means but it's still less than the equivalent German SUV like the X5. What do you plan on getting instead?
I am looking at a loaded 2019 X5. new. Genesis thinks they are better than the germans and lexus. Time will tell. We have 3 germans now (Audi, BMW, Porsche) and of the three we have had 1 problem (Audi satellite radio) in 5.5 yrs, none with the BMW in 4 years, and none with the porsche in 2 years. Lexus initially entered the market by severely undercutting the germans. I don't know if genesis did this with their cars, but this is their first SUV and it is bound to have a learning curve. If it was 5-6K cheaper I may have bitten. Given the way the car was presented online in canada, it looks like if you go with the 2.5 you miss out on a lot of features like upgraded stereo. I will also look at a loaded toyota venza which, ironically was introduced much more recently, but will be available well before the genesis. My wife had a Lexus Rx400h hybrid and loved it. Venza hybrid looks identical and be within 1" all around. Toyo also made much more info available on engine specs, fuel economy etc. Genesis Canada dropped the ball. I have not checked for updates to their web sites. Sorry, I ain't paying 85k for a first ever SUV. They blew it. Expensive, lack of relevant info, and long time lag.

It does look like a very nice vehicle and had neat tech and some cool colours. If you buy one, I hope you enjoy it very much.
