It looks lik the release date of the Genesis GV80 has been pushed to January 2020 k because it needs to “be perfect.”

It seems like the issue is that the 3.0-liter diesel six-cylinder engine that will be offered in some markets has been delayed due to environmental certification, Seoul reports.

While Genesis has yet to publicly state a new unveiling date, a company official told local media “The target is to be released in January next year.”

The 3.0-liter diesel model will be the first variant to launch. One month later, a pair of gas engines will be added. The entry-level petrol engine will be a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder delivering 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. That should be enough to send the SUV to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.9 seconds.

Sitting at the top of the range will be a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 variant offering up 375 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, reducing the sprint to 62 mph down to an impressive 5.7 seconds.

Reports out of South Korea claim that local pricing will start at ₩58.5 million ($49,138 / £37,379 / €44,415) and jump to ₩82.5 million ($69,296 / £52,713 / €62,637) for a high-end diesel model.

A North American presentation is expected at the New York Auto Show next April.
