Installed the latest map update on my GV70 2022 and it has completely bricked my Infotainment System. The update was installed successfully but moments later it started to reboot itself. Now, every 40 sec it crashes and reboots itself and I am not sure what to do next? It is not even detecting USB drive anymore as I was hoping to start software re-installation within those 40 secs. I called the dealership, and they gave me an appointment a month from now. Is there a way to hard reset the infotainment system?

Maybe turn the car off for a couple of hours. The update may need time to complete.

If that doesn't help, try formatting and recreating the update disk (memory stick). It may have had bad data. Once you have a good one, try again. Try first without the usb stick... start the car, go to the update menu, and see if you can cancel it or restart it to gain control. If that doesn't work, try WITH the card... turn car totally off, then insert the usb stick, then start the car, then see if you can get the update to start over.

When doing these updates it is very important to leave it alone for a few hours or overnight. Interrupting it can cause trouble like this.

When I did my first update, the method that worked best was to use the "start update after I shut off the engine". Set it for 0 hours delay. Hit the START button. Wait until it shows 0% so you know it is in progress. Then get out of the car. Screen should stay on with progress display, but engine and all other lights will dim and shut off. Check back later by looking in the window. It may take anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours, probably depending on speed of the usb stick. DO NOT GET IN. DO NOT START ENGINE. Wait until the screen turns off, indicating it has completed.

My GV80 is at the dealership for this. The auto-reboot killed my battery, had to get it towed.
I was worried that might happen when I did my update.

What memory stick were you using? What speed rating?

The instructions talk about using a fast memory stick, and that might be why. If process is slow, it might result in a dead battery.

Thanks for the heads up! It's been almost 2 weeks for me since this issue came up. For now, the car is running fine except that the infotainment keeps on rebooting every 40 secs, and HDA and other sensory functions shut down for a few seconds (time to reboot). I haven't gotten any fix so far myself. I generated a case with MapnSoft, they were very responsive, but no real solutions came from it. The last thing they suggested was to unplug the battery as it might hard reset the system but with no certainty that it would fix the problem. I'm hesitant to perform that bec. it would reset all other communication and system diagnostic settings as well. Finally, I decided to wait and got an appointment with the dealer in late June (that's the earliest I could get).

FYI.i tried different USB sticks 32 GB/64GB etc. with 3.0/3/1 speeds with fresh software download and also other media files. The software update might have corrupted the USB port drivers, so no USB stick is getting detected through the ports (though you can still use it to charge the phone). Only Radio and XM work with small blips every 40 secs

I saw in another thread that someone was able to reset the Navi system, according to Genesis instructions, by pressing and holding Map and Setup buttons.

No details on what all that resets, but it might be worth trying if system is bricked or USB port won't read a stick.

While I did use a slower speed rating stick, it did finish the update. I peeked through the window and the screen was off - then I entered the car and got a notification on the screen that the update was complete. Then it started going into the reboot cycle.

Pressing the 'map' and 'setup' button simultaneously does a soft reset of the system. I have tried this and it resets it, but the reboot cycle still continues.

It'd been 10 days since my car was towed to dealership. They are finally starting to look at it. Got a call from my service advisor. Said they have their top Genesis service tech on it...then they ask me where the key is - I tell them in the transponder duh! They were stumped: "there's a key inside?" Not making me feel too confident in their abilities...
