GV70 Steering Wheel and Lane Assist Issues and some Qs

2568 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  mikekuzmanovich
Purchased a used GV70 3.5 and have a few things going on, and any help would be appreciated:
  1. Steering wheel LCD buttons not lighting up and or working at all. Any suggestions?
  2. Check Lane Change Assist Function display and a warning is popping up on the dash when not even driving. When looking at the function in the settings, it is grayed out and not chosen. maybe associated with the steering wheel buttons not working?
  3. At times when getting out of the car, a warning pops up saying Check Back Seat.
  4. The original owner lost the secondary key and can not set a fingerprint, how do I resolve this, buy a second key?
Thank you in advance for any thoughts on the above

I got in my GV70 this morning (traveling of course) at the hotel and when I started the car I got an error warning that popped up filling the tach gauge indicating an error in the lane departure warning system which should be checked as soon as possible. Then I realized the lighted controls on the steering wheel (cruise control, radar- to keep me apart from traffic in front of me, the switch pages displayed in the center of the speedo/tach all were gone). Also, the physical inputs on the steering wheel- for the phone controls, changing the volume of the radio, cruise control, etc. all non-operational.

We called our home Hyundai (Genesis) dealership and were promptly told they were booked solid until Mid-November and they had no courtesy car for us. When pressed about the safety and potential liability for continuing to operate the vehicle with failures we were told that they don't give loaner cars for vehicles that need repair, only for scheduled service- What???!!!!

Called our salesperson and he said we had 3 years of concierge services and not only should we get a loaner car, but they should also deliver it to us just like if we were disabled on the side of the road or had a service appointment. He said he was taking it to the service manager and we would get a call right back- yeah, that was 5 hours ago and now they are closed for the weekend.

Genesis isn't ready for prime-time and the lack of stand-alone Genesis facilities has created an apathetic response from their service people. This is the 2nd failure with this car in 12,000 miles and both were botched by their service people. I guess I'll be on the phone with Genesis corporate, again, come Monday- and I'll start looking into the Lemon Law hoops. This is total BS.

Can you tell me what resolved your issues? Is it a fuse or computer issue? At least that way I can clue these guys into what to focus upon.

Thanks.
