Found a similar issue reported for GV70 here: GV70 loss of power
I think the same thing happened to me. I could not understand what was happening and it was very scary. Have they fixed the problem for you? Thanks for any thoughts.Hello all,
My 2022 GV 80 AWD has been great to drive during the first 6-8 months without incident, things have taken a turn over the last few months. I will attempt to capture the issue here in case others have experienced this. The issue is intermittent and no specific steps have been identified to reproduce it on demand. When it happens it can lead to a very dangerous situation.
While driving the car, typically already warm from driving, the vehicle will stop responding to the accelerator pedal and the car coasts, losing speed. The issue can last for many seconds to a minute and seems to go away if you stop/start the car. Pressing and releasing the accelerator when this occurs does not do anything. The rpms fall to idle.
I have taken the car in to the dealer and they held it for 11 days (got no status calls nor do they answer their phone), upon visiting the dealer and demanding status they stated that there were no DTC codes and they looked at other sensor data like fuel pressure and it all looked normal. They drove the car for 10-15min and did not reproduce the issue. I discussed with the shop foreman and they said they could not do anything if they don’t have a DTC code to work with. This will make it a very frustrating experience for anyone with this issue. They returned the car to me and upon driving it home (by now the car was warm from earlier test drive with mechanic) the car experienced the issue two times, the second time I caught the issue on video and drove back to the dealer and provided the video as proof of the problem. The car is still at the dealer. There is little to no incentive for the mechanics to investigate the issue because they said they only get paid for billable hours of repairs and not diagnosing these issue.
I have an open case with Genesis USA and have escalated the issue due to safety issue. The problem has occurred 3 times making a turn at an intersection and once on the highway.
I welcome any thoughts and advice from this community. I otherwise like the vehicle and was hoping to own it for a long time.
-Issue remains unresolved-
I just received the car yesterday evening, after about a month at the dealer. They said they were able to reproduce the issue and decided to change the fuel pump. Given what I’ve read from others here, that may not fix this problem. I’ll update here after driving it for a week.I think the same thing happened to me. Glad to hear that, thanks for sharing.Hi all,
I faced same issue last year on my GV80 and the dealer replaced the fuel pump under the warranty and told me that they call me before because some of same vehicles having manufacturer issues and there are recall to change the fuel pump. After replacing the fuel pump car 👍🏼
Thanks for your reply. Will be interested to see if the fuel pump solves it. Good LuckI just received the car yesterday evening, after about a month at the dealer. Good grief my friend. I had the engine malfunction light to come on a couple times and they finally replaced one of the injectors and that seems to have fixed the issue. Hope they get those issues resolved.Update:
I picked up my GV80 from the dealer after they replaced the fuel pump. After a week of driving, I have not reproduced the issue reported here (loss of acceleration), but my fuel gauge has stopped working and after filling up the tank, the gauge still shows no fuel and now check engine light is on. :-(
