Did any of you find a solution or was it just a normal response of the cruise control? I have had two instances of the car going into first gear and locking in first gear with no cruise control on and no GPS speed control on. One instance was when I was sitting at a red light. When the light turned green, I stepped on the accelerator and the car got stuck in first gear and would not upshift. I had to have GV80 crawl 5 mph with the engine roaring to get off the road out of the way of cars behind me. After I turned off the ignition and turned the car on again, the problem disappeared. That was several months ago. Just this past weekend, my wife was driving about 30 mph and suddenly the car slow down quickly into first gear, stayed stuck in first gear, and I had to instruct her where to find a safe place to get off the road and park the car. We turned off the ignition. Turned the ignition back on, and the car resumed to normal driving. The first time this happened I brought the car into the dealer. He said he found no fault codes and could not replicate the behavior. I asked my dealer today if he has any information about such incidents. He said no. He said he thought it might be an accidental brushing up against the paddle shifter. We’ve been driving this car all year, are totally familiar with it, never use the paddle shifters, and they are not in a spot where we ever put our hands or fingers. Did any of you find a solution to your problem? Was it simply explained by having programmed your cruise control to link to GPS speed? Or was it something else? thank you for any feedback.
Mine did it today. Driving at 45, no cruise and heavy traffic. My GV80 3T suddenly slowed to 20 mph and I floored it to get it to 30 mph. I pulled in to a parking lot, turned it off and back on and it didn’t do it anymore on the way home. I’m an hour and a half from the dealership so I called them and they said may be a computer glitch and by turning it off and on again I probably fixed it. NOT ACCEPTABLE. I told them to drive here and pick it up Monday. We shall see what happens. I’m thinking there’s an issue with so many having the same issue.

Mine does this when CC is set to speed limits and speed limit in highway drops...the car's speed drops accordingly.
Agree, I think that is the root cause. On a local freeway (65mph) there is a curve that is marked at 50mph, just before the curve, my GV80 quickly drops the speed 15mph, navigates the turn and then quicky speeds up pulling out of the curve. It handles it hands free just fine, though I wish the speed drops/accel would be a bit smoother

This sounds familiar. Here is my experience:

What all of you are reporting sounds very similar.

Since I posted that I have a revision to make and that is that I think it was in my case related to Vehicle -> Driver Assistance -> Lane Safety. This setting needs to be down graded from "Active Assist" to "Warning Only"

I also want to add that this happened so bad one time that the Check Engine light turned on and the car called Genesis Connected Services. The car would move with reduced power, put on the Emergency Flashers and move to the shoulder to park and power off the engine. Comes back good on the engine restart.
BTW after a few hundred miles the Check Engine turned itself off.

I'm still concerned about Left hand turns, this is the other condition that triggers this horrible down shift, pause shift more, and vastly reduced power. In both cases, they were unlevel intersections (with dips) and not perfect 90 degrees. I presently still have Active Assist on the Forward Safety. The Smart CC is working on the highway.

Were you at a highway exit when that happened? It happened to me that the cruise read the exit speed limit sign because the lane keeping started to drift towards the exit since the right side lane marker had moved over to the exit lane. We noticed in the cruise set speed that it had changed to the exit speed when looking at the dash. If it happens again check the set speed to see what it says as it will change to the current speed limit and if you get too far over towards an exit it will pick up those speed limit signs.

You guys do know that at any time you can speed up the car by using the gas pedal, right? Once you put your foot on the gas pedal it will allow you to take over driving. Just speed up until it picks up the next speed limit sign then you can go back to cruise. Or you can turn off cruise until you are ready to turn it back on, you don't have to exit a roadway, you are still in control of the car ultimately.
I don't think your getting it.
There are several posts similar to mine, where there is abrupt shifting, 8 down to 3, Engine RPM screaming, hesitation, then the engine has a dramatic loss of power. In the instances that it has happened to me, pushing the pedal almost to floor results in the vehicle crawling. I believe this to be a fail-safe alternate fuel delivery mode. I believe all cars with fuel injection have this in some form. This can be quite tense on a multilane highway or if it triggered in the middle of a left-hand turn with on coming traffic.

Workaround
For my situation, I think I feel fairly safe saying that it due to the safety features. Lane Safety and Forward Safety set to "Active Assist" was what was triggering the condition in my 2022 GV80 Advanced+. I can reproduce the issue within 5-10 in a three lane highway with traffic in all three lanes and Cruise control ON. Setting Lane Safety to "Warning Only", All the problems go away and it has been a couple of weeks since I first saw this. For me, it is a reasonable compromise to downgrade Lane Safety, until I have a dealer look at it. BTW just because Lane Safety is set to warning, one can still use has use of the lane keeping steering assist and cruise control. Isn't that weird! What goes away under this compromise is the car will no longer track the surrounding vehicles on the overhead display. It only shows the car in front of you.

I have thought of one other test scenario that I want to try before I take it in and that is to swap Forward Safety with Lane Safety in terms of "Active Assist" vs "Warning Only". Depending on that outcome, it could point to a link that the two systems are "fighting" one another.

Not sure if the safety features are the same among trim levels. If not, that could be why some people never see the issue.
