GV80 Engine Start/Stop: A Simple Hack To Disable It

4868 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Orzel
If you always wondered how to permanently disable engine start/stop (Idle Stop & Go) in the Genesis GV80 but had no luck finding a solution, then this hack that involves an everyday household item should do the trick.

What you do is stick a bread bag clip or something of similar size and thickness under the ISG button. This should prevent it from reactivating engine start/stop the next time you start your vehicle.

Trying to picture this. Can you elaborate please? I absolutely loath that ISG function. In my Macan, you could disable and save the setting.
I think I saw the same thing as GenesisFan did. @Orzel it looks like this. It's not elegant at all but supposedly it works.

Thanks! Not exactly what I had pictured in my mind. I may have to try this and see if it works. Appreciate you getting back to us.

Works great for me too. Now I'll try it on my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Thanks @Tronno, that's exactly how it works!

@Ozrel, @smiley47 and anyone else reading this should make sure to remove it before going in for servicing.
You never know what qualifies as voiding the part of your warranty this falls under!

A not so DIY solution could to be yank whatever fuse controls start/stop, IF (big if) it doesn't negatively impact anything else.

Great news! Glad to hear it actually works.
Have not had the opportunity to try this as yet, but thanks for the heads-up on the hack!
