A newbie here, purchased our GV80 in Dec 2020. From the outset I have experienced vibrations in the rear of my vehicle. It has been back to the dealership 3 times already, with new tires and wheels not helping. Finally got Genesis involved, and supposedly they have come up with a fix. Have an appt next week at the dealership and will have to leave it 3-4 days...the last time it was 8 business days!

My question, has anyone else experienced this type of issue? I saw on the internet that there has even been a class action lawsuit filed by an attorney in FL. Thanks!

Welcome @Redwood396 sorry to hear about your troubles with your GV80. Has Genesis explained to you what their fix is?

Yes vibrations started at 2500 miles, and after 30 days at dealer, Genesis replaced the driveshaft assembly (they had to ship new ones from Korea). Good news is 5000 miles with new driveshaft and smooth as silk. Keep pressing your dealer to follow diagnostic protocols. There have been a number of GV80s and Palisades with bad driveshafts so Corporate is well aware of the problem.

There seems to be a growing number of vehicles suffering from unbalanced driveshafts and/or bad differentials. If you feel a vibration, have the techs. look here first, as that seems to be the cause 9 times out of 10.

Looks like we have similar models. Green, Prestige, it mine is 2.5 and RWD. No vibration problems. Hope you can resolve this.

Welcome to the forum @Redwood396 and @Ben!

@Redwood396 are they at least giving you a good loaner/rental while your car is in for service?

@Ben, when did you take delivery of yours?
They brought me a 21 Santa Fe to drive while mine was in the shop. It had much of the same tech as the Genesis, but was a little smaller and had rock hard seats. Now they have G80s for loaners which are sweet indeed.

Supposedly there is a part in the driveshaft that will be replaced. Wish they would just replace the entire driveshaft. Hopefully by the end of July I'll have a smooth driving machine! Will post my results. Thanks all for sharing!!

This sounds like a vibration issue I had with my 2020 G 80.. Genesis eventually bought the car back. Driveshaft issues. I never did have a fix. Sounds like the driveshaft issues continue.

Well, they replaced the driveshaft propeller and the vibrations have been greatly reduced, but after driving 39mi home from the dealership I still am not completely satisfied. Guess I will drive it for a bit and see how things go. I must say that for the $ spent on this vehicle, I'm not that crazy about it. (I have a 3.5 Prestige 5 seater...maybe it's partially an empty rear problem, like a pickup truck...)

Ha, every time mine has been in the shop, I get a G70 loaner...usually one that has been smoked it. I could drive a Santa Fe, but those seats are like rocks! We bought ours at the end of December, only has 3500 miles on it now. I didn't drive for 2mos after some back surgery, and my hubby is not allowed to drive it...much...;).

Had the same vibration issues. I'm on my second GV80. So far so good, rounding 8000km now.

My first GV80 was a complete dud from temperature sensors going bad, steering feel driving all over the road, vibration issues, electronic issues with center screen turning off and the power window on passenger side wouldn't roll up randomly, topped off with a bad battery/drain issue. I ditched it for a quick loss of ~$8000 at ~9000km. Not a great experience. The first GV80 was manufactured October of 2020, sold to me in January 2021.

Since my first GV80 rolled off the lot it just drove different and coming from a 10th gen civic that drove solid I was like this is not ok for a $70k(CAD) vehicle. The vehicle started in the service department at 1000km for the steering issue/vibration issue and then bad balanced wheel weights, then electronic gremlins, then very harsh vibrations around 4500km(was at dealer for new driveshalf for over 30 days). Once I got the vehicle back after the driveshalf was replaced, it drove smoother but not totally eliminated. So I just tried to push it to the back of my mind, until the battery issue started and I was just like I'm done with this vehicle. A little back and forth with the dealer and got a decent price for it but still slapped by depreciation.

As I was only going to get a good buy back value from the Genesis dealer I bit the bullet on another GV80 as I do love the looks and the demo vehicle drive feel was nice as to why I bought one in the first place. My second GV80 was manufactured in late April of 2021 and it has been pretty solid. Aside from some hiccups here and there expected for a first year but boy Genesis must have had some QA issues in those first production months. My second GV80 still suffers from slight vibrations, it is a trim without adaptive dampeners so I do find the suspension a little harsh and you feel road vibrations, but nothing like my first GV80 and it's acceptable for now but I am keeping my eye on it.

Sorry for the long post. Hopefully my story helps to show you are not the only one in this spot. I just hope where you are has Lemon law because my home province did not.

I’ve had the same issue with my G80. Same power train
