I Phone problems

I have an I Phone SE. I have paired it to my GV80 2.5 Prestige. I receive phone calls with no problems. The contacts are recognized as well. I am not able to receive text messages. In fact, if my phone is in the vehicle the phone does not notify me that I received a message. Outside of the vehicle the phone dings with a message.
When I bought the vehicle I had an android phone and I got text messages then.
Has anyone had this problem and if so were you able to resolve the issue? Thanks for any thoughts.

Pairing your iPhone to the car 'transfers' the sound from the phone to the vehicle. That, alone, will only give you phone privileges. You can also either plug your phone's cord into the data USB port or use a wireless 'dongle' (as I do) to access Apple CarPlay on your center screen. Using CarPlay will allow your texts and a whole lot of other features.
Thank you very much. I will try that. Once again, having second thoughts about switching to IPhone at 77. Have a happy new year.
Will just a regular bluetooth dongle work properly?

No. It has to be designed with specs for iPhone and CarPlay such as this: Amazon.com
My Apple I-Phone 12 Max pairs perfectly, and messages appear whether or not the phone is connected by cable. If not, it appears as a bar at the bottom of the screen, but cannot be read audibly unless connected. I always connect it and use CarPlay, which allows the function to read and reply to messages. Older I-Phones may lack certain connectivity through Bluetooth to function fully, or may not support the most updated CarPlay features.

I have the same problem with my iphone max pro, I get calls and it downloads all my contacts but cant get text. I followed the instructions to pair at least 10 times now (I delete and add it) and it just wont notify me when I get a text. One instruction I saw online said I have to accept messaging when that prompt comes up on the iphone but I never get that prompt. The only prompt I get is to allow contacts. I never used apple car play. The beauty of this car is to just drop the phone in the pocket and hooks up and charges wirelessly.

If I interpret you correctly, you THINK the wireless charging area also connects your iPhone to the car. FALSE. You either have to 1) connect via bluetooth for wireless calling (No messages) or 2) connect via lightning cable for CarPlay using the 14" infotainment screen, or 3) Purchase a wireless adaptor for wirelessly doing the same as #2.

FWIW, the wireless (QI) charger in the GV80 is next to worthless foe any iPhone! Carry a Lightning charge cable for the rare times you may need to use it!
No I am aware that I need to connect via bluetooth, what I meant was once connected every time I get in the car I just put my phone in the pocket and drive. It should hook up automatically and tell me when I get a text just like every other car I have driven in the last 10 or 15 years. For some reason just cant get the text to work, just phone calls. Shouldn't have to use the USB to hook up apple car play.

As I said before, just using bluetooth, i am certain (I only use CarPlay via wireless adaptor) that you can only make & receive calls your way---not texts
Exactly my problem with Genesis, why do I have to buy an adapter or use the USB port to use apple car play? As I said before every car have driven in the last 10 to 15 years you just connect via bluetooth and you get phone and texts.
You still can get texts, just not be notified through the speaker system. That's why some use a phone holder.
That's funny, 2022 and I need a phone holder to get and see text notifications. LOL My 2014 BMW (gone now) not only showed me my texts I could see and read my emails on the main screen as well. Genesis has too much high end technology and seems to have forgotten the simple technology.

I get the texts through Android Auto and my wife gets hers through Apple Carplay.

Now tell me that isn't messed up. There are other dumb issues I have with Genesis, loved it at first, now I just like it. My wife drives most of the time. I'm happy in my Caddy.
Maybe an improvement in 2023? We own a 2023 GV80 Prestige and when connected via BT we get full function calls and texts through the center display. Not bragging, just sharing.
I may purchase the Wireless adapter just so we can use Apple CarPlay w/o a hardline connection.
That's the way it should be, hopefully they have a software upgrade. We bought ours as a 2022 demo because I didn't want to wait 8 months or more for a 2023. Sales guy went over everything with my wife because it was a surprise gift, I had him bring it to our office and then told her there was a gentleman here to see her, he asked her to step outside and she had this look on her face, she thought he was a police officer arresting her but she didn't know what she did wrong. LOL anyway she was so excited she didn't remember anything he told her. I went through the book and searched the internet on how to for a few things but no luck, called the sales rep but he quit right after he sold me the car, that dealer is about 3 and half hours from us. They are simple issues and they only bother me not her so I decided to wait until it goes in for its next service.
