Interesting Behavior Or Glitch?

But here is my main question to the group. I noticed that at certain times my back door is unlocked when I shut the car off and get out. This is preferential to me since I usually open it to let the dog out. However, it isn't always unlocked. So I did a little playing around and found that if I just hit the Start/Stop button without putting the car in Park first, the rear door remains locked. If I put the car in Park, then shut the car off, the rear door is unlocked. The question I'm asking is do you all see the same behavior? I understand that shutting the car off puts the car in park automatically so why the different behavior?

Any thoughts?
