Limited Slip Differential

Hello Everyone, new GV70 owner here.
I have a question, potentially about the ELSD on the 3.5T Sport Prestige models. Yesterday when I was parking in a lot, as I was turning into the space, I heard and felt what I thought was the front left wheel rubbing on the fender. After a quick inspection I saw no evidence of this.
I just had the thought today that it may have been the Electronic Limited Slip Differential causing the chattering in the rear. It was a very sharp left hand turn at very low speed.
Does anyone have any insight on this? Has it happened to anyone else?
Thanks!

I have a 3.5 prestige and it started giving me a message to check limited slip differential. I have taken it to dealer who says the parts they need are nationwide back order with no eta. So my car is sitting at the dealership with no resolution. And to make it worse. They want to put me in an Altima for what could be months while I’m paying for a GV70. I’m less than thrilled. I love the GV70 but this is completely unacceptable.
I also have a 3.5 prestige and I got that same warning light come on once briefly when I was idling for awhile and it was very hot outside. I am going to knock wood now and say I have not seen it gain and it''s been a month.

Did they say what the part was or what the problem was? I'm not interested in bringing this car in unless it's really necessary. To many uncertainties in this chip shortage world..
I have the same issue with my GV70, is it the actuator they are saying is the problem? I'm waiting for a response on an ETA. The way I see it, the aviator is only an issue if the wheels start to slip and I'm not doing any off-roading anytime soon, so I'm not worried. I just drove from Philly to Montreal today with no issues... go get your car and don't do anything stupid with it and you should be fine.

It was the actuator assembly. I would expect as more of these get on the road that they will have more issues. I’m aware it could be driven while waiting for the part. They didn’t want to put mine back together before the part came in. That was the issue. I spoke to the manager at the dealership. They found a part over the weekend and had it fixed by Monday. So far so good. They told me they overnighted the parts but the paperwork says they installed a known good part. That usually means it’s been taken from another vehicle. Just wondering if they had a bad batch of actuator assemblies.

Well glad to hear they got it fixed. It sounds like they might have gotten a bad batch of them, I hope the one that they used for the repair wasn't from the same batch! Best of luck moving forward. Other than this issue I love my GV70. Have a great weekend.
Yes, that was the part that concerned me. I really love the GV70. So I’m hoping we don’t many issues going forward. Enjoy!
Well mine is going to have to go in now as the warning light is coming on regularly now. I will mention the actuator assembly to them. Hoping this is a one off issue but annoying on a new car especially for a part I paid extra for.
Now in the shop for a week! They want to replace the whole rear differential. They looked at the fluid and it was black and genesis mothership told the dealer to replace the whole thing. Not good as they are telling me 2 months out to get the part. I mentioned the "actuator" and they said it wasn't that. I don't think they know what "it" is but they are going to replace the whole unit. I have contacted Genesis corporate and have been assigned a case number and they assured me they are escalating it whatever that means. If they don't come up with some hard answers this week I will be "escalating" it and that won't be good for them. They put me in G80 loaner so that's good. This is a Hyundai dealership but a high volume Genesis dealer as well and their dedicated Genesis service advisor is very good so I will hope for the best but in today's new screwed up world I have to expect the worst.

Anyone else out there have the idiot light come on for the rear e LSD? I have to think this is not a one off and there will be a TSB soon.

I've had our GV70 for 5K miles and we are getting the "Check Limited Slip Differential" on the vehicle display. When you turn the vehicle off the notice goes away. Took it to the dealership. Notice did not come up when at the dealership. The computer did not register the code. I showed the the picture I took with the phone. They are waiting to get a loaner car to keep the vehicle. 70K car and the computer doesn't save the error code! Not happy with my initial ownership experiences of this vehicle.
Mine is still in the shop waiting for parts. It's been 6 weeks now. This Covid world has parts/shipping backed up. I'm not real happy either but they have been on it and have given me good loaner cars. They are replacing the entire assembly on mine. This is going to be an on going issue for them.
Hello everyone GV70 owners, Brand new with less than 3K miles now sitting in the shop for a Actuator assembly part. ETA is mid Jan. This is ridiculous having paid close to $70 K.
Have not heard back from the big whigs at Hyundai, yet. Does it fall into a national Recall Issue?
Well I feel your pain. Mine sat in the "shop" for 2 months as they had to replace the entire eLSD differential and all associated parts, In my case the initial diagnosis was the fluid was corrupt and genesis wanted to replace the whole unit. So I waited. They did give me good Genesis loaner cars but the whole experience sucked and I don't know if I will ever fully trust the car again as they had to pull the whole ass end of the rig apart.

Bad luck or bad engineering?? Don't know

Update: Car has been at the dealership for 2 months waiting for the "part to come in". Called Customer service. Called the dealership. Nobody cares!
Worst buying experience for us. At this point, want our money back and look for something different. Don't buy the AWD drive model until Genesis admits they have a problem and has the parts to fix it!
Not defending them but this country's current shipping issue and the Covid inspired chip shortage have combined to make getting parts or even washing machines difficult. My frustration was that they couldn't seem to track the parts to know when they were coming. Are they replacing the whole unit on yours as they did mine? On mine the differential itself came in a month and they had to wait for the computer part and that took another month. I was also frustrated but again with the car shortages out there it would have done me no good to lemon law it or let them buy it back because then I have to go find another car which is not easy now and many are going well over list price.

Now I have to say they did keep me in good loaner cars for the 2 months. I had a G70 ( to small) then they got me a G80 ( nice but I have a bad back and need an SUV) and then they got me a brand new GV80 V6. I had that for a month. It stinks for sure but I just bit my lip and I am not a patient person. I've had the vehicle back now and put about 800 miles on it and so far ( knock wood) it's fine. My confidence is a bit shaken but I leased it so I'm just going to enjoy it for another 2 1/2 years and let it go. We will probably all be forced to drive electric by then..

Keep us posted..

There are more reports of these failures. This is going to be a disaster.
It is a problem for sure. Does the GV80 have an eLSD on it's top trim?

Yes, with similar problems.
My GV70 has less than 4K miles and just got out of shop after 2 weeks replacing the computer for the warning " Check Slip Differential" and 50 miles/ 3 days out of shop with new computer and warning back on-- I was just reading this forum when the service manager called me and I advised of this issue with you other owners and told him yall were told the problem was actuator- I am just speechless... to my disappointment I doubt I'll be a Genesis owner much longer (n):(

If you didnt get ripped off on the original sale, you can probably flip your gv70 for more than you paid for it. Buy something else. You will have to wait months for the repair.
