I’m wondering how accurate delivery dates are. My Prestige 3.5 is supposed to arrive Oct 5th. Do these vehicles ever arrive before their estimated date? What was your experience if you ordered?

Until there is a Dealer arrival date on the salesman's screen you won't know for sure. Until then it says the date is TBA. Have them send you a screen shot of the car on their system. This will tell you if there is a true date or if they are just guessing. Mine did arrive about 7 days prior to the dealer arrival date once we had that date.

Unfortunately, the salesman I’ve worked with and have heard stories from on these message boards nearly all lie. They will continue to push back the arrival date and string you along so you don’t go elsewhere. Since you can’t order a car from Genesis, the dealerships are at the mercy of receiving whatever Genesis sends them. While they can see further (possible) deliveries, the dates (for the most part) are not given. I reserved a forthcoming 2021 GCS 3.5 Prestige March 1. I was initially told it would arrive early May. Since then, like clockwork, whenever we get within four weeks of the date given, it’s pushed back another 2 - 3 weeks. This has been going on for months. The latest intel I was given said it should arrive September 14. Frankly, I’m growing tired of the lies and my take my money elsewhere. Genesis is not the only nice car in this segment.

These are the following columns on that page after Vehicle status.

ETA Date - Order Type. - Trade Status. - Model Year - Model

So ask to see the rest of the screen to see which model year it is and the ETA date.

I see it doesn't yet have a true VIN number so until that happens there won't be a true ETA date to my knowledge.

Just as I suspected…no ETA date nor a VIN. The sales guys make my blood boil! He isn’t showing the full screen because he knows he’s not being truthful. Heck…it doesn’t even show a model year which has me convinced it’s not a 2022 but a 2021 which may be coming.

Ordered mine January 9. Expected delivery was March, then June, then August, now late September. If anyone orders a 3.5 Prestige get used to waiting.
Did you order yours from the website? I thought about doing that but all the dealers said it would be 6-8 months until it arrived. I found a local dealer who was getting the exact model I wanted so I put a deposit on that. Do you think that will be delayed too or just the ones that have been ordered?

As has been said before, you can’t order a Genesis…from the website or any other method. All you can do is ask the dealer what they are expecting and place a deposit on that. I was told “the exact one you are looking for is due soon…put a deposit on it and when it arrives it’s yours!”. Yeah…this seems to be what they all say, and then you wait 6-12 months. Frankly, i don’t think they ever see what’s coming that far out. They simply lie to get you to leave a deposit and stop you from shopping elsewhere.

I ordered mine in March 2021 from a dealer with an estimated arrival of mid-August. I received it July 19th and they kept me informed every step of the way.

I ordered a 3.5 Prestige in March. I was to,d at the time to give them a few weeks to know if the order would be accepted. They later confirmed it was accepted with an August delivery target. Then I got a call in July saying it was pushed out until mid-September. I don’t know if it’s accurate to say, you can “order” a Genesis. I do get online and follow the incoming vehicles to see if one shows matching what I ordered. if it’s going to be pushed out again, I guess I will be hearing from them in the upcoming week since we are 4 weeks out from the last ETA.

I do know all dealers are having trouble keeping delivery commitments. Some have pushed out until 2022. This is not limited to Genesis and has to do with the chip shortages in the industry.

I hear you about ordering. I think it’s just what the dealers are getting in and if it matches what you want then you can out a deposit on it. At least that’s my experience. How do you follow the incoming vehicles online? Do you match it to the AON number?

I go to the page for my local dealer and select stock for the GV80. It shows the details, without photo (a vehicle under a cover is all it shows) and says in transit. Last week it had one close to what I ordered and it sold before I ever saw an actual photo. My assumption is that it was ordered and the Buyer was waiting, therefore no pictures. Once it arrives it will show photos, like this:

The delivery date on the salesman’s screen is not going to be the delivery. Twice they have moved my delivery date. They are busy taking deposits with no inventory. Meh

Yep…they got me too! Gave them a deposit back in March, was told it’s coming soon…and nothing! Last I heard was MAYBE end of September…maybe not. This entire experience has really soured me to wanting to buy a Hyundai product again. Terrible sales experience so far.
