The button ends calls but does not answer calls.

I don't get phone calls in my car mostly because I don't drive it much (only 1750 miles in 11 months) so I haven't answered my phone in the car to tell you for sure but the user manual says that a short press on the phone button on the steering wheel is to answer and long press is to hang up. You might try that?
