Welcome to the forum.
That subfloor area can fit the compact space-saver spare wheel. With that removed you should have enough space. for the average dufflebag. Why not in the regular cargo area?

Looking to transport 4 adults with full sizes bags and carry-ons to the airport 200 miles away . Just got a chance to see a locked gv80 today and concerned when I looked in the trunk.
We take frequent trips and currently have to take the other couple's Acura MDX always. Absolutely love the look (Seville silver still with travel tape on) but looking at options.

Its a horrible cargo system. I removed the retarded sub floor cargo system and now I have enough room to put a few things in the sub floor area

The trunk should be spacious enough. It’s bigger than you think!
