Well after calling around earlier this week, yesterday I found a dealership with what I was looking went forward with a 2023 GV80 3.5 Prestige Matte. Here are the questions I have so far....

* Android Auto - Seemed really sensitive to the position of my phone and if my cable/phone got moved at all it would lose connection/reconnect. Could be my cable, but wanted to see if this was common.. I think I will look at wireless options.

* OTA Updates... should most updates be coming OTA or do I need to use the software updater? 2023 GV80's are not on the updater yet, and I can tell there is a map and software update available. Do you need to do anything to get the OTA to work?

* I have an appointment with a detailer next week to get full body PPF & Tint done. They offered me half off on ceramic coating as well, but I not entirely convinced it is worth it and they said they use an in-house product for it. The PPF is XPEL Stealth and doing XPEL ceramic tint. Anything I should try to get done before it goes to the detailer next week? Due to the drive, I have some bugs and such on it so I might give it a hand wash, but I am going with the assumption the included Dr. Beasley's protectant is not a good idea since I am getting PPF in a few days.

It did not sound like it to me, and he talked about a top coat which ive read may not be a good idea with matte? Obviously it would be going on top of the XPEL Stealth, and they claim they use it with great success on other customers matte cars, but obviously I have questions and here we are.

I'm confuzzled!! The Signature matte finish also comes with black wheels, but your's had the stock wheels. Have they changed?

They no longer offer the Signature in 2023, just Prestige and Prestige Matte (which is just the Prestige with matte paint. Not sure why they have it as a different trim.)

Correct, no version available with them on the 2023's... or at least not yet.

Congrats.......we bought an APPLE brand usb cable to connect an iphone to CARPLAY. It did the trick. Suggest you get a "branded" product for the Android phone.

I had been using this cable in other vehicles without any issue, so it not sure why it is so sensitive, BUT - I wound up ordering the Motorola MA1 and that seems to be working very well. Wireless is even better!

Yes wireless is better. I have a BMW 840I with wireless (all BMWs are wireless) and it works great.

Yeah the Jaguar that I traded in for the GV80 had wireless.. kind of blows my mind that Genesis does not have it.

I’m just curious on the Matte finish when it comes to ceramic coating. Does it do anything to the paint warranty? I know when I bought my GV80, had a choice in the green matte or non. Salesman talked me out of matte because of the care involved.

Honestly I am not sure if there is a warranty when it comes to matte paint. You are supposed to sign some additional paperwork related to the matte paint and how it requires additional care and that you are responsible for it, etc, etc. I don't see how ceramic coating would impact any sort of warranty - i don't see how they would ever be able to really tell if you put it on. I love the car, love the look of the GV80 with the matte paint. In the warmer months the care to keep it clean was there but it really wasn't too bad - I mostly just used a detailing spray or waterless wash on a weekly or bi-weekly basis and it always looked great. In the winter months, living somewhere with a lot of snow and where they put salt/chemicals on the road.. it has been very difficult to keep clean. With my PPF I can use touchless washes, but the problem is I really can't find any.. at least not easily, guess I am going to have to be less lazy to try to find one which I don't love.

I would skip the ceramic coating and use Dr. Beasleys coating. Did you get the starter kit with your GV80? Nice ride BTW. Looks familiar.
