I see that the status of my GV60 factory order has changed today to 'Shipping'.

I'll try to find out more detail from my PA but guessing that this means that it has been manufactured now in South Korea and is somewhere on the path from leaving the factory to loading on the next available ship for transport to the UK. So potentially still 3-4 weeks away from arrival in the UK and then allow another week or two for in-country checks, PDI and delivery to me. This puts the likely delivery date near the start of November - pretty much when it was promised for, given the July order date. (None of the stock cars was close to my preferred spec, so I chose a factory order.)

It's notable that the status went directly from 'Confirmed' (order) to 'Shipping' with no intermediate Build Date etc being reported. I have heard rumours that there is an update pending to the website to provide more detail on status but doesn't seem to have happened in time for me.

If it's of any interest, here is my spec:

I would recommend talking to your PA rather than checking the website. I went for a stock model, which was delivered on Sept. 5th, but the website still shows it as being in Delivery Preparation! It was the PA who kept me informed on the actual status but I did have to chase him a bit (they seem to be very busy).
Loving the car but hating the 9 inch crack that I got on the windscreen from a (big) stone hit within its first 50 miles. The car is so new in the UK that Autoglass do not have it in their system. Genesis aftercare have prepared all of the details that Autoglass need but I am still waiting for a confirmed appointment to have the screen replaced two weeks after I requested one. Ah the joys of having a (very) new car.

To the best of my recollection, my order date is as shown in the top right of the image of my web page order, ie 14th July @12:43. (Or at least I think that is the date that the order was formally confirmed by Genesis with signed paperwork etc, as distinct from when I may have agreed to the order but before all the i's were dotted and t's crossed in the ordering formalities.)

Had a call to say my GV60 has now reached the UK and delivery to my house expected in about 2 weeks,. once the customs clearance and PDI checks have happened and actual delivery to me organised.

Me too, although I didn’t get a call! I emailed and didn’t get a reply for 3 days so emailed again to be told they know nothing. I replied asking how come 3 weeks ago they did know and expected the car to be here late October. Received another reply saying the car is arriving at the dock that evening. Might just be my Genesis PA but I don’t have a lot of confidence going forward, so much so that between emails I was looking at Defender 90s.

Got a call today from my Genesis PA, having pretty much arranged delivery for 7/8 November and telling me that the car was in “prep” for delivery, today they said No, it’s still at the port and maybe you’ll get it delivered a week later. Great news as I’ve sold my current car and its being picked up on 2nd so I’ll be without one for longer than anticipated. To say I was raging 😡 would be an understatement and again turned to Autotrader and sent a couple of links to other vehicles to my wife. She called me back and calmed me down and talked me out of calling Genesis back to tell them to stick the GV60 up their arris. Not impressed with Genesis UK at all and if it’s this disorganised now what is the future support package going to be like.

Similar story here. Genesis pressing for early delivery and then a message to say sorry but needs to be after 16th Nov. Actually, that's fine for me because I'm pretty busy for the next couple of weeks and the installation of my home charger has also been delayed. So with luck the two things will mesh together some time soon after 21st Nov.

My main complaint at present is the difficulty of emailing my PA. The Hyundai mail server that services Genesis UK doesn't seem to like my emails and won't accept them, despite coming from a reputable business email address. Emails to anyone else get through without issue.:mad::mad: Genesis UK comms are overall pretty atrocious. I think you have to want a Genesis car pretty badly to be prepared to fight through all the challenges here in the UK..

As I noted in my earlier post, pre-delivery I had to chase my PA a lot to get updated information. I didn't have any email problems but I also made sure that I had the PAs mobile number so that I could call direct. I got the impression that the pre-delivery team are very busy/under-staffed.

On a more postitive note re DDR's concerns about future service, I have had good service from the post-sales team to help me get a screen crack fixed. Genesis have provided all of the informatiom needed to help AutoGlass and when that didn't work (AutoGlass were absolutely useless) Genesis very quickly provided a quote to do it themselves and recommendations on how to handle this with my insurers. They picked up the car earlier this week, left a courtesy car and are currently enroute to return our vehicle. The delivery driver has kept me updated on both trips regarding his arrival time. Their only fault has been a small delay in arranging the pickup date, and this is being compensated with a complimentary boot liner.

That said, I would have been having similar concerns and frustrations if a promised delivery date had been put back. Hope it all turns out well.

Cheers GRHM, that alleviates my concerns a little. They didn’t offer myself or JohnD any compensation though, just very sorry suck it up! I arrive back in UK on 13th so good thing is I’ll be there for delivery but my wife takes her 90 year old mother shopping and to doctors etc every week and she’s supposed to be picking me up on my return with suitcase and hand baggage and she drives a MX5. So both of these won’t be happening until we get a bigger car. Had it not been for my wife’s intervention I’d have bought another Evoque yesterday, nice P300e Autobiography that I saw. I’ve been so looking forward to the GV60 but tbh the shine has gone off it by a lot, hopefully when it eventually gets here I’ll be happy I did suck it up after all.

Hi there, I am new to this forum. My footer pretty much tells my story to date. Has anyone received their vehicle this year?

Having been messed around by Kia I am trying to get some certainty from Genesis. Looks like I'm shooting for the moon just now!

They apparently built 100 vehicles( premium , sport and sport plus with varying specs) destined for the UK , prior to launch to pre-empt a mad rush to order. Their inventory at the time of post , is very slim with only 7 vehicles vary from 3 -8 weeks delivery. I get the impression, although Hyundai is very well established and run BTW, the luxury arm of the business is pretty much stand alone like Kia . However, their operation from production to customer service leaves a lot to be desired . Going by some of these experiences if proved to 100% factual , tells me if you're willing to purchase a GENESIS , you must be will to take a risk either way. In my 40 years of motoring, leaving many luxury manufacturers in my wake , I find GENESIS are clearly not on their own in that respect . 😤

And my experience mirrors dapprman. My GV60 Sport Plus was ordered 14 July and delivered early November, well within the promised 4-5 months delivery time. Factory orders from S Korea are bound to have some elasticity built in because of factors like factory production schedules, variable waits for the next available ship and so on. I do think that the centralised operation of Genesis UK lends itself to better prediction of delivery times vs individual dealers where things like dealer quotas will play a part.

No defects that I have so far spotted on mine.

Thanks @johnd and @hansongeorge672 it seems as though their delivery dates are reasonably reliable. I am not after a definitive date, but a definitive quarter would be nice! Kia are equally if not MORE disorganised than your descriptions of Genesis. They are building out of the parts bin at the moment and maximising production. This means that deliveries are "out of turn". Some folk get their car in 9 or 10 months from order, others (me, but not me alone by a long way) don't even get a build date after a year of waiting. Many are fatalists and say "I've waited this long, it surely can't be much longer", but my dealer who was never anything but truthful, advised that his best guess was that it wouldn't be delivered to me before August this year, a wait of 20 months! I found this unacceptable so cancelled the order with Kia and placed an order with Genesis on the same day.

I'll keep folk posted of progress.

If you are interested in the number of GV60's registered by DVLA you can find the data here. Only up to end of 3rd Quarter 2022, but the full year data should be released in a week or two.
