Genesis has been making significant strides in recent years, and the upcoming G70 should worry its competitors at BMW, Audi and MB. I'm expecting with a few more years of development for the GV to be just as big of a disruptor, matching the level of luxury found in German rivals, but at a more affordable price.

The G80 has been received quite well, though it has seen two recalls since it launched. The G70 is looking to deliver where Kia fell a little short with the Stinger, in particular by providing a manual gearbox. While Genesis is certainly improved the quality of their premium tech and features, I think its long term reliability where the brand will still have to prove itself.

Speaking from experience, I have been in both the G70 and G80. They share the same platform and deliver well to what both segments demand. The only real faults are in the powertrains and drive components.

From what I hear the GV should be riding on this same platform.

While Genesis is obviously trying to move away from being seen as a 'discount' brand, I think they are well positioned to begin taking customers from German brands, on value proposition alone. Not only are German vehicles more expensive to buy into, but they also have a much more expensive cost of ownership.
