I believe that spot is to store the cargo cover/shade when it in the way, like if you have the seats down & are filling the back with something big.

 

Nope. there's another much longer void for that. And my cargo cover was in that spot. This is entirely different. It's almost the right size for a floor jack, but this car doesn't come with one since it has 3rd row seats and again, it's almost the right size.

 

When 1st posted, I saw the picture, but now, all I get is a blue ?

My gut feeling is that it's for a floor jack of some kind, although it seems a bit small for a proper jack that can hold an SUV. Both you & I don't have a spare tire, so we wouldn't get one. But I believe the 2.5T series has a spare tire & may get some kind of jack there? It's weird that even the dealership doesn't know.

 

Looks like it would be perfect to stash an 18" semi-auto shotgun or M400 Tread with room for some boxes of spare ammo next to that tire kit

It was not there when i looked a few days ago. I see it now. I am glad I am not the only one.

I do not have that in my 21 Prestige. And it is not where the jack goes as mine in on Styrofoam inset in my spare tire.

 

Where did you get a spare tire

 

It came with my car. There were different conditions where you would and would not get one depending the different packages. I think my year only the third row seats did not get spares.

 

For me, too much pizza, beer & other things generally not good for you ....................... 🤣

I purchased my spare from EZ Spare, and a scissor jack from Harbor freight. I was not comfortable only having the inflator and patch device they provided.

 

My Prestige GV 80, when you lift up the back cover there is a square piece divided in 4 sections appx 3'x3', right behind 2nd row seats. This piece lifted out and the spare tire fits in that space. the insert is no longer used.

 

I believe that a storage location for the tow pin. Should the vehicle need to be extracted the pin be screwed in and a chain or rope attached to eyelet. The attachment points are hidden be a removeable small square on the bumper areas.

 

I have that in mt 2024 GV70. it is at the rear almost to the rear bumper. It holds a Cargo Cover that rolls up like a window shade and installs just below the rear windows behind the rear seats…a spting/ compression fit. Store it in thar slot if you want a full open cargo space

 

First aid kit in Europe.. it's required by law.
